{"id":10026,"date":"2014-07-23T16:59:25","date_gmt":"2014-07-23T16:59:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/?p=10026"},"modified":"2014-07-23T16:59:25","modified_gmt":"2014-07-23T16:59:25","slug":"id-fire-rockets-at-israel-if-i-lived-in-gaza-british-mp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/id-fire-rockets-at-israel-if-i-lived-in-gaza-british-mp\/","title":{"rendered":"I\u2019d fire rockets at Israel, if I lived in Gaza: British MP"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"divLead2\" style=\"color: #000000;\">\n<p><strong>A British lawmaker says he would fire rockets into Israel if he lived in the besieged Gaza Strip, which has faced a deadly Israeli offensive for over two weeks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; color: #5b5b5b;\"><p>\u201cThe big question is &#8211; if I lived in Gaza would I fire a rocket? &#8211; probably yes,\u201d Liberal Democrat member of parliament David Ward said in a message posted on Twitter on Tuesday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">He added in a follow-up message that the West should \u201cmake up its mind &#8211; which side is it on?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">The comments drew criticism from the Liberal Democrats, with some on social media calling on party leader Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg to suspend Ward from the party.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cWe utterly condemn David Ward\u2019s comments, they are not representative of the Liberal Democrats,\u201d the party also said in a statement, adding that it would take the matter \u201cvery seriously and will treat it as a disciplinary issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">Last July, Ward was suspended from his party for making anti-Israeli remarks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cThere will be a ceasefire, then there will be a period of calm,\u201d he said in an interview with BBC Radio Leeds about the latest Israeli onslaught on Gaza, adding, \u201cBut during that period of calm when hopefully people are not being murdered, there will still be Palestinians who are being shot by the Israeli forces, they will still be beaten up, there will still be child detentions, that to the Israelis is peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">Israeli warplanes have been hitting numerous sites in the Gaza Strip, demolishing homes and burying families in the rubble since July 8.
