{"id":10557,"date":"2016-12-15T08:37:29","date_gmt":"2016-12-15T08:37:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/?p=10557"},"modified":"2016-12-15T08:50:19","modified_gmt":"2016-12-15T08:50:19","slug":"yemeni-forces-pound-saudi-positions-with-artillery-shells","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/yemeni-forces-pound-saudi-positions-with-artillery-shells\/","title":{"rendered":"Yemeni forces pound Saudi positions with artillery shells"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Yemeni army and allied fighters from the Popular Committees have attacked two military bases inside Saudi Arabia, killing at least one Saudi soldier\u00a0and injuring scores of others.<\/strong><\/p>\n[embedyt] http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jeJUo7N1L7o[\/embedyt]\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One of the artillery attacks was\u00a0launched against Saudi positions in Makhrooq\u00a0area of Jizan province, in which one soldier was killed and three military vehicles were destroyed, Yemen\u2019s al-Masirah TV network reported Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, scores of Saudi troops were seen fleeing their positions when they came under the Yemeni attack.<\/p>\n<p>Yemeni fighters further targeted yet another Saudi military base in Najran with artillery shells, blowing up a huge depot of armaments.<\/p>\n<p>The attacks were conducted in retaliation for\u00a0persisting Saudi airstrikes against the war-ravaged Yemen.<\/p>\n<p>The development came two days after Saudi warplanes pounded the Yemeni province of Sana\u2019a for several hours in an unprecedented wave of airstrikes against the country over the past months.<\/p>\n<p>The fighter-bombers carried out as many as 25 back-to-back airstrikes against various districts of the Yemeni capital, Sana\u2019a, according to local media reports.<\/p>\n<p>More than 11,400 Yemenis, including women and children, have been killed in the course of the Saudi military aggression against neighbouring Yemen since March 2015.<\/p>\n<p>This is while international right groups have repeatedly condemned Riyadh over its onslaught against Yemen. They have also warned of a humanitarian crisis in the impoverished country.<\/p>\n<p>The Saudi campaign was launched with the aim of reinstating Yemen\u2019s former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.<\/p>\n<p>Hadi, a loyal Riyadh ally, resigned last year and fled to the Saudi capital.
