{"id":11408,"date":"2017-11-12T16:00:17","date_gmt":"2017-11-12T16:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/?p=11408"},"modified":"2017-11-12T15:32:56","modified_gmt":"2017-11-12T15:32:56","slug":"syria-un-envoy-un-vote-shows-israel-presence-in-golan-illegal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/syria-un-envoy-un-vote-shows-israel-presence-in-golan-illegal\/","title":{"rendered":"Syria UN envoy: UN vote shows Israel presence in Golan illegal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"item-text\">\n<p><strong>Syria\u2019s UN envoy has said that the UN\u2019s recent positive vote for a draft resolution concerning Israel\u2019s occupation of Golan Heights shows that the Tel Aviv regime\u2019s actions are \u201cunacceptable and violate the principles of international law.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Syria\u2019s Ambassador to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari\u00a0made the remarks while addressing the Special Political and Decolonization Committee, the SANA news agency reported on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Jaafari stressed that the sweeping vote reiterates member states\u2019 rejection of the Tel Aviv regime&#8217;s occupation of the Golan Heights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also asserts that the attempt to annex the Golan by Israel is null and void and has no legal effect in accordance with UN Security Council\u2019s Resolution \u00a0No. 497 for 1981, and therefore all such practices, including the settlement activities and cooperation with terrorist groups as a Daesh and Jabhat al-Nusra in the Syrian Golan will be denounced by \u00a0all those who are keen to upgrade international law, end the foreign occupation and to reject the principle of annexing the lands of others by force,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure class=\"image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/217.218.67.233\/\/photo\/20171112\/fef3660a-aeba-48c2-ac23-e4c5e700d67d.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"555\" height=\"313\" \/><figcaption>Syrian chief negotiator and Ambassador of the Permanent Representative Mission of Syria to the United Nations Bashar al-Jaafari looks on during a round of negotiation, during the Intra Syria talks, at the European headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva, on July 10, 2017.
