{"id":11432,"date":"2017-11-12T16:00:41","date_gmt":"2017-11-12T16:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/?p=11432"},"modified":"2017-11-12T15:31:31","modified_gmt":"2017-11-12T15:31:31","slug":"iran-rejects-frances-proposal-for-jcpoa-renegotiation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/iran-rejects-frances-proposal-for-jcpoa-renegotiation\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran rejects France\u2019s proposal for JCPOA renegotiation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"item-text\">\n<p><strong>Iran has rejected French President Emmanuel Macron\u2019s proposal to amend the landmark 2015 nuclear deal to cover the Islamic Republic\u2019s ballistic missile capabilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have repeatedly told French officials that the JCPOA (the nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) is not negotiable and other issues will not be included in it,\u201d Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Saturday.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cFrance is \u2026 completely aware of our country\u2019s stance that Iran\u2019s defensive affairs are not negotiable,\u201d he added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>During his visit to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, Macron suggested amending the JCPOA.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the day, Macron made a surprise visit to Saudi Arabia, where he said he was \u201cvery concerned\u201d about Iran\u2019s ballistic missile program, adding, \u201cThere are negotiations we need to start on Iran\u2019s ballistic missiles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with the <em>Time<\/em> magazine, published on Thursday, Macron also said, \u201cWe should negotiate a new series of criteria and a new treaty with Iran to stop their ballistic activities in the region.\u201d<\/p>\n<div data-oembed-url=\"http:\/\/www.presstv.com\/Detail\/2017\/11\/09\/541615\/Iran-US-France-Emmanuel-Macron\">\n<div class=\"oembed\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/media.presstv.com\/photo\/20171109\/6a89f92f-aba0-4569-9dc8-95caffadd755.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"title\">PressTV-Macron backs JCPOA but takes aim at Iran missiles<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The French leader says he told US President Donald Trump that &#8220;If you want to stop any relation with Iran regarding nuclear activity, you will create a new North Korea.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council \u2013 the United States, France, Britain, Russia and China \u2013 plus Germany signed the nuclear agreement on July 14, 2015 and started implementing it on January 16, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Under the JCPOA, Iran undertook to put limits on its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related sanctions imposed against Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>Eight reports by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have confirmed Iran\u2019s full compliance with the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Iran has vehemently ruled out any negotiation on its missile program which it deems as an inseparable plank of its national security, meant for defense and deterrence.<\/p>\n<p>In his interview with the<em> Time<\/em> magazine, Macron also appeared to be supporting Washington&#8217;s position on Iran&#8217;s ballistic missile capabilities.
