{"id":11684,"date":"2017-11-18T08:37:41","date_gmt":"2017-11-18T08:37:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/?p=11684"},"modified":"2017-11-18T08:37:41","modified_gmt":"2017-11-18T08:37:41","slug":"lebanons-hariri-leaves-saudi-capital-for-france-lebanese-tv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/lebanons-hariri-leaves-saudi-capital-for-france-lebanese-tv\/","title":{"rendered":"Lebanon&#8217;s Hariri leaves Saudi capital for France: Lebanese TV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri has left the Saudi capital Riyadh for France some two weeks after he announced his abrupt resignation in a televised address from the Arab kingdom, Lebanese television says.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mr. Hariri left Riyadh airport on his private jet with his wife and is headed for Le Bourget airport,&#8221;\u00a0northeast of Paris, reported Future TV, which is owned by Hariri&#8217;s family, in the early hours of Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>A source close to Hariri said that based on the flight schedule, the PM would arrive at the French airport at around 7:00 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>In a rare English tweet before departure from the Saudi capital, Hariri singled out German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel, who had expressed doubt that the Lebanese PM was free enough to leave the Arab kingdom. \u201cWe expect that Prime Minister Hariri can come back to Beirut,\u201d the top German diplomat had said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am on the way to the airport Mr. Sigmar Gabriel,\u201d Hariri said in his tweet posted in the early hours of Saturday.<\/p>\n<div data-oembed-url=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/saadhariri\/status\/931645678492766208\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-0\" class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"931645678492766208\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>A member of Hariri&#8217;s political party and two Lebanese TV stations said that he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud and other senior Saudi officials before leaving the Arab kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>A few hours earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said since Lebanon had not recognized Hariri\u2019s November 4 resignation, France would receive him &#8220;with the honors due a prime minister.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.presstv.com\/Detail\/2017\/11\/10\/541641\/France-Macron-Saudi-Arabia-Hariri-Lebanon-UAE\">Macron in surprise Saudi visit to crack Hariri puzzle<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Riyadh recalls envoy to Germany<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia recalled its envoy to Berlin to express its protest over Gabriel\u2019s comments suspecting that Hariri had been held against his will in Riyadh.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cSaudi Arabia has decided to recall its ambassador to Germany for consultations and will give the German ambassador in the kingdom a letter protesting these unfortunate and unjustified statements,\u201d\u00a0 Saudi state news agency, SPA, said, citing a spokesman for the Saudi Foreign Ministry.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Back on November 4, Hariri announced his unexpected resignation in a televised address while he was in Saudi Arabia, saying that he was stepping down because of the security situation in Lebanon.
