{"id":11728,"date":"2017-11-20T17:20:16","date_gmt":"2017-11-20T17:20:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/?p=11728"},"modified":"2017-11-20T17:20:16","modified_gmt":"2017-11-20T17:20:16","slug":"iraqi-police-forces-seize-major-daesh-chemical-depot-in-anbar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/iraqi-police-forces-seize-major-daesh-chemical-depot-in-anbar\/","title":{"rendered":"Iraqi police forces seize major Daesh chemical depot in Anbar"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"item-text\">\n<p><strong>Iraqi security forces have uncovered a major chemical depot belonging to Daesh Takfiri terrorists in the country\u2019s western province of Anbar, as government forces, backed by fighters from the Popular Mobilization Units, are purging the territory of the last remnants of the terror group.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Iraqi\u00a0Directorate\u00a0of General\u00a0Military Intelligence said in a statement that police forces together with units of the\u00a09th Armored Division\u00a0made the discovery in the Salman district of al-Qa\u2019im town, located nearly 400\u00a0kilometers northwest of the capital Baghdad.<\/p>\n<p>The statement added that the depot contained 3,000 bags of urea, each weighing\u00a050 kilograms.<\/p>\n<p>Daesh terrorists would use the chemical agent in order to make improvised explosive devices and booby traps.<\/p>\n<p>Late last month, the Iraqi prime minister formally ordered the launch of operations to purge Daesh terrorists from the towns of Rawah and al-Qa\u2019im.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/217.218.67.233\/\/photo\/20171120\/cc5e6e6d-354b-4b31-9c2b-5250c67bf3ba.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"555\" height=\"313\" \/><figcaption>This picture provided by Arabic-language\u00a0al-Qurtas\u00a0News news agency shows Iraqi forces at a major Daesh chemical depot in the Salman district of al-Qa\u2019im town, western Iraq.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi visited the newly-liberated town of Qa&#8217;im and the nearby Husaybah border crossing in far western Iraq on November 5, and raised the Iraqi flag at the border crossing.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, an unnamed security source\u00a0told Arabic-language\u00a0al-Ghad Press\u00a0news agency that\u00a0Iraqi army troops have recovered some 40 tons of munitions belonging to Daesh Takfiris in Ain al-Jahsh region southwest of Mosul.<\/p>\n<p>On July 10, Abadi formally declared victory over Daesh extremists in Mosul, which served as the terrorists\u2019 main urban stronghold in the conflict-ridden Arab country.<\/p>\n<p>In the run-up to Mosul&#8217;s liberation, Iraqi army soldiers and volunteer Hashd al-Sha\u2019abi fighters\u00a0had made sweeping gains against Daesh.<\/p>\n<p>The Iraqi forces took control of eastern Mosul in January after 100 days of fighting, and launched the battle in the west on February 19.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Iraqi security forces have uncovered a major chemical depot belonging to Daesh Takfiri terrorists in the country\u2019s western province of Anbar, as government forces, backed by fighters from the Popular Mobilization Units, are purging the territory of the last remnants of the terror group.
