The parliamentary group of the Hezbollah resistance movement\u00a0has welcomed Prime Minister Saad Hariri\u2019s return to Lebanon, who recently stepped back from his surprise resignation in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n

In a statement released on Thursday, the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc\u00a0voiced its \u201cgreat satisfaction\u201d with recent political developments in Lebanon, adding that Hariri\u2019s latest \u201cpositive statements\u201d signaled a possible return to normalcy in the country.<\/p>\n

The recent developments were \u201cthe result of the adherence of the Lebanese to their unity, sovereignty, independence and national dignity,\u201d in tandem with \u201ctheir rejection of any foreign dictates,\u201d the bloc said.<\/p>\n

It further hailed the \u201coutstanding management of President Michel Aoun\u201d and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri during the fresh political crisis in Lebanon.<\/p>\n

Hariri\u00a0stunned Lebanon by announcing his\u00a0resignation\u00a0in a live television\u00a0broadcast\u00a0from Saudi Arabia on November 4.<\/p>\n

Senior sources close to Hariri and top Lebanese officials said Saudi Arabia had coerced Hariri\u00a0into stepping down and put him under house arrest.<\/p>\n

The development was followed by a steep escalation in\u00a0Saudi statements, accusing the Lebanese government of declaring war on the kingdom.<\/p>\n

Aoun refused to accept Hariri\u2019s resignation\u00a0and said that the premier was being detained in Saudi Arabia against his will.<\/p>\n

On November 22, Hariri returned to Lebanon after a nearly three-week absence, emphasizing that he had accepted Aoun\u2019s request to suspend his resignation.<\/p>\n

Separately on Thursday, Hariri described the latest turmoil as “a wake-up call” for the Lebanese people to put their country ahead of regional issues.<\/p>\n

“The period that passed was perhaps like a wake-up call for all of us to look for Lebanon’s interests rather than looking at problems around us,” Hariri said at the annual Arab Banking Conference in the capital, Beirut.<\/p>\n

Stability Lebanon\u2019s top concern<\/strong><\/p>\n

He also noted that stability was Lebanon\u2019s \u201cprimary concern\u201d and thus his government would focus on the issue.<\/p>\n

The prime minister further said that his government was going to prioritize Lebanon’s interests over regional challenges.<\/p>\n

“The problems around us are important, but Lebanon is more important,” he said.<\/p>\n
