Activists say\u00a0Bahraini forces have held six civilians, including a woman,\u00a0without offering any legal justification for their detention as the ruling Al Khalifah regime presses ahead with its repressive measures and heavy-handed crackdown in the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom.<\/p>\n

Human rights activists, requesting anonymity, said Fawzia\u00a0Mashallah had been kept in police custody over the past three days after regime troops raided her home in the Bilad al-Qadim\u00a0suburb of\u00a0the capital Manama, and took her to\u00a0the Interior Ministry\u2019s Criminal Investigation\u00a0Directorate without providing any reasons, Arabic-language\u00a0Bahrain Mirror\u00a0news website\u00a0reported on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The forces also arrested a young man, identified as Mohammed Ja\u2019afar al-Jamri, in the northwestern village of\u00a0Bani Jamrah.<\/p>\n

Separately, officials\u00a0detained\u00a0Ibrahim Sabbat at\u00a0Bahrain International Airport\u00a0upon return from a vacation abroad.<\/p>\n

Bahraini troops also made three separate arrests in the northwestern\u00a0village of Diraz, situated some 12\u00a0kilometers\u00a0west of Manama,\u00a0as well as al-Dair village on the northern coast of\u00a0Muharraq Island.<\/p>\n

Thousands of anti-regime protesters have held demonstrations in Bahrain on an almost daily basis ever since a popular uprising began in the country in mid-February 2011.<\/p>\n

They are demanding that the Al Khalifah dynasty relinquish power and allow a just system representing all Bahrainis to be established.<\/p>\n

Manama has gone to great lengths to clamp down on any sign of dissent.\u00a0On March 14, 2011, troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were deployed to assist Bahrain\u00a0in its crackdown.<\/p>\n

Scores of people have lost their lives and hundreds of others sustained injuries or got arrested as a result of the Al Khalifah regime\u2019s crackdown.<\/p>\n

On March 5, Bahrain\u2019s\u00a0parliament\u00a0approved the trial of civilians at military tribunals in a measure blasted by human rights campaigners as being tantamount to imposition of an undeclared martial law countrywide.<\/p>\n
