{"id":12761,"date":"2018-01-11T04:32:51","date_gmt":"2018-01-11T04:32:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/?p=12761"},"modified":"2018-01-11T04:32:51","modified_gmt":"2018-01-11T04:32:51","slug":"new-mass-grave-with-20-tortured-bodies-unearthed-near-iraqs-mosul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/new-mass-grave-with-20-tortured-bodies-unearthed-near-iraqs-mosul\/","title":{"rendered":"New mass grave with 20 tortured bodies unearthed near Iraq\u2019s Mosul"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"item-body\">\n<div class=\"item-text\">\n<p>Iraqi security forces have unearthed yet another mass grave containing the bodies of at least 20 women tortured and slain by Daesh terrorists near the northern city of Mosul, which was once the terror group\u2019s main stronghold in the Arab country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRelics of 20 women were found inside a mass grave while removing debris in western Mosul,\u201d Iraqi Police Colonel Omar al-Hajjar said on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Hajjar said that the victims were executed by the terrorists \u201cas they were trying to escape toward the eastern side of the city during the liberation offensives last year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that the bodies of the victims along with their identity cards \u201cwere transferred to forensic medicine department in Mosul to extradite them to their relatives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Several mass graves have been found in the areas formerly controlled by Daesh militants since Iraqi forces launched their major offensive in October 2016 to liberate Mosul, the terror group\u2019s last urban stronghold in the Arab state.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Iraqi lawmaker Farah al-Siraj said \u201c4,000 bodies are still under the debris in the Old City of Mosul.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mosul had been under Daesh control since 2014, when the terrorist group started a terrorist blitz in Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared in July 2017 the final victory over the Daesh terrorists in Mosul after eight months of combat against the extremists.<\/p>\n<p>In mid-December, Al-Abadi declared the end of war against Daesh.<\/p>\n<p>Daesh has gained notoriety for barbarity, heinous atrocities and sacrilegious acts.
