Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says\u00a0the US is overstepping its bounds in\u00a0recognizing\u00a0Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel\u2019s \u201ccapital” and planning\u00a0to move\u00a0its embassy there, adding that the measures\u00a0are in vain.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks during a meeting with participants in\u00a0the 13th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Conference in Tehran on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Ayatollah Khamenei described the recent decisions by US officials\u00a0concerning Jerusalem al-Quds as “arrant erring,” saying, “They will not be able to carry out this measure\u00a0and their efforts will not bear fruit.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On December 6, US President Donald Trump defied global warnings and said Washington formally recognized Jerusalem al-Quds as the \u201ccapital\u201d of Israel and would begin the process of moving its embassy to the occupied city, breaking with decades of American policy.<\/p>\n

Trump’s declaration has sent shock waves throughout the Muslim world and even prompted warnings from Washington\u2019s allies in the West that it would bring more chaos to the region.<\/p>\n

Ayatollah Khamenei also said the Palestinian cause\u00a0is among the main issues of the Muslim world and added, “In the Palestinian issue, the three incidents of ‘land occupation’, ‘mass expulsion of millions of people’ and ‘massacre and horrible crime against humanity’ occurred.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

These acts of oppression\u00a0have never ever happened against any other nation, the Leader stated.<\/p>\n

The Leader stressed the importance of countering the “conspiracy of silence”<\/em> aimed at cosigning to oblivion the main issues of the Muslim world, particularly the Palestinian cause.<\/p>\n

Ayatollah Khamenei urged Muslim countries to counter the “dangerous and horrific Western propaganda empire”<\/em> which, the Leader said, is run by Zionists.<\/p>\n

Ayatollah Khamenei warned that the important issue of Palestine is being totally ignored by the international community.<\/p>\n

The Leader emphasized that the Muslim world must now play a role in “important and fundamental issues”<\/em> and prevent the reoccurrence of the “bitter experience of the past\u00a0decades and dominance of powers and their long-term effects.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The Leader urged the Muslim countries to be explicit vis-\u00e0-vis the fundamental issues of the Muslim world in order to be able to influence public opinion and set trends.<\/p>\n

Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized the significance of “unity in the Muslim world<\/em>” and said unity in the\u00a0Muslim\u00a0world which enjoys enormous facilities and a very crucial\u00a0global status can prepare the ground for the formation of a “big and influential power.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The Leader added that Muslim countries should not allow discord, war and bloodshed, whose main cause are the US and Zionists, to establish a safe haven for the Zionist regime.<\/p>\n

Ayatollah Khamenei further pointed to the US claim on advocating human rights and said the current US president is stating\u00a0the country’s stances “very nakedly and explicitly.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The Leader called on Muslim nations to help resolve the crises in Yemen and Bahrain as they are among the important issues of the Muslim world.<\/p>\n
