August 22, 2018<\/div>\n<div class=\"wrapper hidden-lg hidden-md  visible-xs\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"news_print_botton\" title=\"Print\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"news_emails_botton\" title=\"Send to friends\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"wrapper hidden-lg hidden-md hidden-sm\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"news_nav news_id_c\"><span class=\"news_nav_title\">News ID:\u00a0<\/span>3466587<\/div>\n<div class=\"wrapper\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"subtitle\">TEHRAN (IQNA) \u2013 Muslims in Iran and a number of other countries on Wednesday celebrated Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), one of the most important festivals on the Islamic calendar.<\/div>\n<div class=\"body ah_body\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image_btn img-responsive\" title=\"Muslims across Iran Celebrate Eid al-Adha, Say Eid Prayers\" src=\"http:\/\/iqna.ir\/files\/en\/news\/2018\/8\/22\/31840_188.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"\" height=\"\" align=\"middle\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Many other Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia, celebrated the Eid on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>On this occasion, people crowded mosques across the country to perform prayers and sacrifice animals.<\/p>\n<p>The faithful slaughter sheep and goats to commemorate Prophet Abraham\u2019s (PBUH) submission to divine order to sacrifice his son, Ismail (AS), a supreme act of faith.<\/p>\n<p>Just before sacrificing his son, God provided Prophet Abraham with a ram to sacrifice instead after he successfully passed the test of subservience to the Almighty.<\/p>\n<p>The meat of the sacrificed animal is shared among family members and friends, and also donated to the poor.<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s President Hassan Rouhani delivered a congratulatory message to leaders of Muslim countries on Tuesday, when Hajj pilgrims along with a number of Muslim countries such as Turkey, Syria and Palestine marked the occasion.<\/p>\n<p>He hoped that Muslims could help eliminate \u201cthe violence and extremism\u201d gripping the world today by resorting to Islamic teachings and promote \u201cpeace, tranquility, justice, fraternity and friendship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eid al-Adha is commemorated towards the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, which should be undertaken at least once by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Hajj drew more than 2.37 million pilgrims, including some 86,000 Iranians, to the holy sites of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>English .
