RNA \u2013 Speaking with the media at the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Hujjat al-Islam \u200eNasrollah Pejmanfar, the representative of the people of Mashhad and Kalat in the Islamic \u200eConsultative Assembly, said that during a meeting was held in May 2016 with the ministries \u200eof Foreign Affairs and Economic Affairs and Finance, as well as the Central Bank, where an \u200eagreement with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) was signed without coordination with \u200ethe parliament and the Supreme National Security Council and this issue was hidden until July \u200eof the same year.\u00a0 \u200e<\/p>\n

The member of the Cultural Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said that the \u200eratification of Iran\u2019s accession to the Counter-Terrorism Financing Convention (CFT) was \u200epresented to the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the government is required to \u200eimplement it in October 2018.\u200e<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cDespite some claims that the CFT has no relation to the FATF, it must be noted \u200ethat joining this convention has been signed in order to comply with its obligations of the \u200eFATF.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

Hujjat al-Islam Pejmanfar stated, \u201cOur question now is that if we determine the conditions \u200efor accepting the CFT, can we define the terrorist groups according to our constitution? We \u200ehave to say, no. Of course, the more accurate response to them is that you don\u2019t have the \u200eright to do this according to your own opinion because in recommendation six of this \u200eagreement we have accepted that we mustn\u2019t have ideological issues.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

He stressed that if we accept this convention, regardless of its recommendation six, a trial \u200ewill take place. For example, the FATF can say that there is an active terrorist cell in our \u200ecountry and you must block the assets of this group and if we say no, these groups are \u200eallowed, conflict will occur and action will be taken at the international courts to resolve the \u200econflict between our government and the observer body.\u200e<\/p>\n

A member of the Cultural Commission of the Majles added, \u201cBy accepting the FATF, we will \u200ehave to place all our classified information on our banks to observer states. In fact, the \u200eFATF can complete the sanctions cycle against Iran so that we don\u2019t have any kind of \u200emovement inside the country. Suppose, for example, if we buy security equipment to \u200estrengthen our borders, the FATF can monitor the cash flow and even the purchase of the \u200eequipment.\u201d \u200e<\/p>\n

Hujjat al-Islam Pejmanfar continued, \u201cWe believe in transparency in the country, but it \u200eseems that some of the words are being misused, in other words, if through the FATF, we \u200eprovide our general information with other countries, we are obliged to introduce all the \u200ereferences of what has been sent and received.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n
