\nRNA \u2013 In an interview with Hujjat al-Islam Dr. Reza Ramazani-Gilani, the former imam of the \u200eIslamic Centre of Hamburg, Germany, said, \u201cWhen the people in the West and in Germany \u200esee a Shi\u2019ah cleric, they truly respect them and I have witnessed this respect, not only in \u200eGermany, but also in other countries, such as France, Italy, Belgium and elsewhere. This \u200erespect for these clerical clothes and the fact that these people are the propagators of \u200ereligion is witnessed and exists.\u201d \u200e<\/div>\n

The Iranian cleric said that the leaders of other religions are justified in the approximation \u200ebetween religions and respect it and said, \u201cTheir leaders believe that interfaith dialogue is \u200eessential not only for knowing each other but can also be used for discussing other topics \u200ethat may not be believed by others.\u201d\u200e<\/div>\n

He added, \u201cHamburg is a place for dialogue and approximation, and there are different views \u200eand voices there. It\u2019s important to be present as an active thinker, not passive. Therefore, \u200ethe presence of the various voices in this city is very important.\u201d\u200e<\/div>\n

Hujjat al-Islam Ramazani-Gilani noted that Friday prayers have been held at the Islamic \u200eCentre of Hamburg for the past 58 years. Imams of the mosque have included the late \u200eHujjat al-Islam Dr. Mohaqeqqi-Lahiji and Shahid Beheshti and for this reason, this centre \u200eholds the most important Friday prayers for Shi\u2019ahs in Europe.\u200e<\/div>\n

His Eminence said that because of the fact that the Islamic Centre of Hamburg was first the \u200eShi\u2019ah mosque founded due to the demand of believers and was established on the order of \u200ethe main source of emulation at that time, the late Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Hoseyn \u200eBoroujerdi, the Islamic Centre of Hamburg has a special position.\u200e<\/div>\n

During a meeting at Hamburg\u2019s Atlantic Hotel in 1953, a group of Iranian residents of \u200eGermany discussed the need to establish their own religious centre and sent a letter to \u200eAyatollah Borujerdi asking him for help. His Eminence agreed with the plan and donated \u200e\u200e100,000 rials to the centre. Construction began in 1960 and it was completed in 1965.\u200e<\/div>\n

Hujjat al-Islam Ramazani-Gilani \u200estated the special position led the Islamic Centre of Hamburg \u200e\u200eto be an axis in Europe, not only for Shi\u2019ahs but for all Muslims. Therefore, in the same \u200emosque, the Sunnis and Shi\u2019ahs pray their Friday prayers together. If you look at pictures of \u200ethe late Shahid Beheshti in Hamburg, you will see many Sunnis participating in the \u200eceremonies and prayers.\u200e<\/div>\n

In regard to the topics discussed in Friday prayer sermons, he said, \u201cWe devote part of the \u200esermon to religious and spiritual issues and the other part to the topics related to the Islamic \u200eworld and the wider world.
