RNA \u2013 Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani was quoted as saying by Ayatollah Mohsen \u200eAyatollah Araki, the Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools \u200eof Thoughts.\u200e<\/p>\n

Ayatollah Araki, who recently met Ayatollah al-Sistani during his stay in the holy city of \u200eKarbala to take part in Arba\u2019in pilgrimage, says the Iraqi top cleric has underlined the need to \u200epreserve unity between Shi\u2019ahs and Sunnis and added the latter have been deprived of \u200esecurity due to the relentless attacks by Daesh.\u200e<\/p>\n

\u200e\u201cIn one of the recent meetings of Grand Ayatollah with a crowd of Popular Mobilization \u200eForces, one member said we have peaceful coexistence with our Sunni brothers. In reply, \u200eAyatollah al-Sistani underlined that they should never use the term Sunni brothers because \u200ewe are from the same origin and there is no difference between us and them,\u201d Ayatollah \u200eAraki said.\u200e<\/p>\n

According to Ayatollah Araki, Ayatollah al-Sistani also said he had urged Popular Mobilization \u200eForces to protect the Sunni families who are under Daesh attack under any condition.\u200e<\/p>\n

\u200e\u201cThe top Shi\u2019ah cleric said enemies are seeking to create division between the Shi\u2019ah and \u200eSunni Muslims in Iraq and there are many who call on him to issue a verdict in this regard but \u200ehe has declined to do so until today because he thinks it is not in the interest of Iraq to \u200econtribute to any conflict between the two sides,\u201d said Ayatollah Araki.\u200e<\/p>\n

According to Sistani, when Daesh started attacking Sunni Muslims, most of them fled to the \u200eShi\u2019ah-populated regions and faced warm hospitality by their Shi\u2019ah brothers and today, the \u200eShi\u2019ahs are reaping the fruits of their deeds.\u200e<\/p>\n

Enemies Hatching Plot to Divide Iraq<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ayatollah Araki says Ayatollah al-Sistani also expressed satisfaction with peaceful coexistence \u200eamong Shi\u2019ah and Sunni Muslims in Iraq and said \u201cin the Sunni-populated city of Mosul, \u200epeople decided to pick up a Shi\u2019ah candidate during the latest parliamentary elections. This \u200ereveals that the two sides have good relations with each other.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

According to IFP\u00a0news Ayatollah al-Sistani said since the early days of Saddam regime\u2019s overthrow, the US insisted \u200eon dividing Iraq into a number of regions but he vehemently rejected any such plans saying \u200ethat Iraq must never be divided.\u200e<\/p>\n

\u201cThey said the Shi\u2019ahs will have the upper hand if Iraq is divided. They tried to tempt the \u200eShi\u2019ahs into agreeing with Iraq\u2019s division,\u201d Ayatollah al-Sistani was quoted as saying.\u200e<\/p>\n

Ayatollah al-Sistani said he resisted against any plan to divide Iraq and said Iraq must remain \u200eunited and the Iraqis should remain brothers with each other regardless of their schools of \u200ethoughts.\u200e<\/p>\n

Arba\u2019in, Axis of Unity in Islamic World\u200e<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cOf course Iran played a key role in creating peace and security in Iraq,\u201d Ayatollah al-Sistani \u200esaid, adding, during the Arba\u2019in march, people from various races and beliefs stood hand in \u200ehand revealing the unity in the Islamic World.\u200e<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring Arba\u2019in, not only Shi\u2019ahs and Sunnis but also people from other religions stood \u200ebehind each other.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

Ayatollah al-Sistani then said that he benefits from the Iranian leaders\u2019 ideas. \u201cUnder the \u200eSaddam regime, there were no appropriate communication channels. Today, I study other \u200ecountries\u2019 laws and regulations. I receive many books from Iran and fortunately good books \u200eare published there, which I draw on to deal with many issues.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

He finally prayed for the Iranian government and nation and expressed hope the issue of the \u200eunilateral sanctions on the country could be resolved soon and the Iranians could overcome \u200etheir problems in the near future.\u200e<\/p>\n
