Prophet Ibrahim (a)<\/span><\/p>\n

Many years ago a boy
\ncalled Ibrahim lived
\nin Canaan.
\nhe was very clever and was always asking questions.
\nMost of the people he knew
\nworshipped idols but
\nIbrahim did not.<\/span><\/p>\n

The people had
\nforgotten the messages
\nthat Adam, Hud, Nuh
\nand Salih had
\nbrought them.
\nInstead of praising
\nAllah they worshipped
\nstatues.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ibrahim told his father
\nhe didn’t think people should
\nworship objects they had
\nmade themselves. His father
\nwas angry and told him
\nnot to say anything about
\nthe gods again.
\nIbrahim decided he must
\nshow the people they were
\nwrong so he thought of a
\nplan.<\/span><\/p>\n

One night he sneaked into
\nthe place where all
\nthe statues were
\nkept. With an axe
\nhe chopped off the
\nheads from all but
\none of the statues.
\nThe biggest one
\nhe left.<\/span><\/p>\n

The next morning the
\npeople were very angry
\nand upset at what had
\nhappened. They were
\nsure Ibrahim had done it.
\nThey gathered in the
\npublic square and asked
\nhim if he had done it.
\nIbrahim told them to ask
\ntheir big idol if he
\nknew who was responsible.<\/span><\/p>\n

But, of course, the statue
\ncould not speak and the
\npeople knew it was only
\nstone. Ibrahim shouted at
\nthem and asked how
\nthey could worship lumps
\nof stone. The bad people were
\neven more angry.
\nThey started to collect wood
\nfor a fire. They were
\ngoing to burn Ibrahim
\nto death.<\/span><\/p>\n

They made a big bonfire
\nand put Ibrahim on the top.
\nEveryone came to watch. They
\nlit the wood. The fire burned,
\nthe flames grew higher and
\nhigher. The people had to
\nback away from the heat
\nof the flames.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ibrahim was a good
\nperson. He believed in Allah.
\nAllah would protect him.
\nAllah would not let the
\nfire harm him. When the
\nflames dies down the people
\ncould not believe their eyes. <\/span><\/p>\n

They saw that Ibrahim
\nwas alive and the flames
\nhad not harmed him at all.
\nHow had this happened?
\nThey all knew this was a
\ngreat miracle and they
\nfell to their knees.<\/span><\/p>\n

This wonderful thing had
\nmade them believe in Allah.
\nSome people would still not
\nlisten. They thought
\nIbrahim was just a magician<\/span><\/p>\n

Nimrod, the king of Canaan,
\nheard all about Ibrahim.
\nHe wanted to talk to him.
\nHe asked Ibrahim about Allah.
\nIbrahim told him that
\nAllah could do all things.
\nHe could give life and death.
\nNimrod said that he too
\ncould do that.<\/span><\/p>\n

His soldiers brought
\ntwo men in. Nimrod
\nordered one to be
\nkilled and the
\nother to be saved.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nimrod thought that
\nthis made him like Allah.
\nIbrahim told him that
\nAllah brings the sun
\nevery morning from the
\nEast.<\/span><\/p>\n

He asked Nimrod if
\nhe could bring the sun
\nfrom the west next
\nday, of course, Nimrod
\nwas unable to do that.<\/span><\/p>\n
