The Sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (a)<\/span><\/p>\n

One night Ibrahim had
\na bad dream.
\nHe dreamt Allah told
\nhim to sacrifice Ismail.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ibrahim thought it was
\nShaytan playing nasty
\ntricks on him.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The next night Ibrahim had
\nthe same horrid dream.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ibrahim knew that
\nAllah would only
\nask him to do such
\na thing if he had good
\nreason.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even though he loved
\nhis son dearly, he was
\nprepared to do this
\ndifficult thing for Allah.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ibraim told
\nIsmail they
\nhad to go to
\nMount Arafat.
\nHe took a knife
\nand a rope with h<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

On the way they passed
\na place called Mina.
\nThe devil, Shaytan, came
\nto Ibrahim and
\ntried to talk him
\nout of sacrificing
\nhis son.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ibrahim turned his back
\non him and would not listen.<\/span><\/p>\n

When they reached Mount
\nArafat, Ibrahim told Ismail
\nwhat Allah wanted him to do.
\nIsmail listened and accepted
\nwhat was to happen. He was
\nan exceptional child.
\nHe too was a
\ngreat prophet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ismail told his father to tie
\nhis hands and legs and blindfold
\nhimself so he would not struggle and
\nmake his father even more upset than
\nhe was going to be and Ibrahim was
\nblindfolded so he would not see his
\nson suffer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ibrahim did as Ismail
\nhad said. He then took
\nthe knife and did what
\nAllah had told him to
\ndo. When he took
\nthe blindfold from his
\neyes he looked down, not
\nat his son but at a
\ndead ram.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ismail was at his side.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ibrahim was afraid.
\nHe thought he had disobeyed
\nbut then he heard a voice
\ntelling him not to worry.
\nAllah looks after his
\nfollowers. Ibrahim and Ismail
\nhad passed a difficult test.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each year, during the
\nmonth of Dhul Hijjah,
\nmany Muslims, from all
\nover the world, travel
\nto Makkah.<\/span><\/p>\n

They want to remember
\nwhat Ibrahim and
\nIsmail did.\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the month of Dhul Hijjah
\nthese pilgrims go to Makkah,
\nMina and Arafat.
\nThey visit places
\nwhere Ibrahim and Ismail
\nlived and preached.<\/span><\/p>\n

They give a sacrifice just
\nas Allah commanded
\nIbrahim to do. The pilgrims
\nsacrifice animals in
\nmemory of the deed.<\/span><\/p>\n

We must obey
\nAllah’s commands
\nas Ibrahim and
\nIsmail did. We
\nobey by doing
\nthe things we
\nknow are right,
\npraying, obeying
\nour parents and
\nalways telling
