{"id":16454,"date":"2019-05-12T14:02:54","date_gmt":"2019-05-12T14:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/?p=16454"},"modified":"2019-05-12T14:02:54","modified_gmt":"2019-05-12T14:02:54","slug":"massive-explosions-reported-at-uae-port","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/massive-explosions-reported-at-uae-port\/","title":{"rendered":"Massive explosions reported at UAE port"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"item-text\">\n<p><strong>Powerful explosions have been reported in the Emirati port of al-Fujairah, where seven oil tankers are said to have caught fire.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The blasts took place early on Sunday morning, according to the Lebanon-based Al Mayadeen television channel, which reported the development hours later.<\/p>\n<p>It said the seven oil tankers were completely burnt and that firefighters were still trying to extinguish the blaze.<\/p>\n<p>Some social media activists said that American and French aircraft of unspecified type were flying over the port.<\/p>\n<p>Al Mayadeen did not\u00a0say what had caused the explosions or the fire.<\/p>\n<p>Later, the media office of the government of Fujairah denied the report of the explosions altogether, saying that transit and other activities at the port were underway as usual.\u00a0Additionally, Brigadier Ali Obaid al-Taniji, the director of the department of civil defense in Fujairah, told the Emarat al-Youm daily that there had been no fire or explosion at the port.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the UAE government\u2019s denial, witnesses have emphasized that the blasts have taken place and some media sources have even went further, identifying a number of oil tankers hit by the explosions by their hull numbers as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Almajd supertanker<br \/>\nNo.: 9773800<\/p>\n<p>Marzouq supertanker<br \/>\nNo.: 9165762<\/p>\n<p>Marij oil tanker<br \/>\nNo.: 9394741<\/p>\n<p>Alamijal oil tanker<br \/>\nNo.:91477674<\/p>\n<p>Khamsa 10 oil tanker<br \/>\nNo.: 94320704<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, a number of powerful explosions rocked Saudi Arabia\u2019s port city of Yanbu\u2019, an important petroleum shipping terminal for the kingdom.
