RNA \u2013 Speaking at the fifteenth session of a series of discussions on the exegesis of the \u200eHoly \u200eQuran held at Qom\u2019s Hojjatieh Seminary, Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani \u200eexplained and \u200einterpreted verse 67 of Surah al-Tawbah, wherein God Almighty says: \u201cThe hypocrites, men \u200eand women, are all alike: they bid what is wrong and forbid what is right; and are tight-fisted. \u200eThey have forgotten God, so He has forgotten them. The hypocrites are indeed the \u200etransgressors<\/em>.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

The revered source of emulation and said, \u201cMaterialists believe that any dependence on \u200eothers is a kind of alienation of oneself. Therefore, man must not depend on God because \u200ethis kind of dependence causes alienation from himself.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

He stated that recognizing God, seeking God and dependence on God are part of human \u200enature and stated, \u201cDependence on God isn\u2019t considered alienation from the self but is like a \u200ereference to oneself.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

Ayatollah Sobhani \u200eadded, \u201cHuman beings have different dimensions and tendencies, such as \u200eknowledge, morality, beauty and metaphysical. Scholars and academics have proven that \u200ehumanity has so far gone through 17 civilizations and in every civilization there is a tendency \u200etowards worship, spirituality and seeking that which is beyond the natural laws of the \u200euniverse [metaphysics].\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

The prominent teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom emphasized that the materialists \u200eneglected the tendency of man to seek that which is beyond, adding, \u201cIf a person looks at \u200ethe nature of humanity through the lenses of materialism, he can\u2019t see the truth of servitude \u200eand the beauty of the universe.\u201d\u200e

\nHe pointed out, \u201cGod Almighty in this verse mentions humanity in regard to its tendencies \u200ebeyond and emphasized that God forgetting God leads to the forgetfulness of the self. \u200eTherefore, if a person doesn\u2019t pay attention to the God and forgets Him, in fact, he has \u200eforgotten his existential reality.\u201d\u200e

\nAyatollah Sobhani \u200efurther stated that in the Holy Quran, God Almighty explained the stories \u200eof the prophets of the past to teach lessons and said, \u201cMan must always look at the stories \u200eof the people of the past and take lessons from them and not carry out the mistakes that \u200ethey have committed in order to attain a degree of closeness to God Almighty.\u201d\u200e

\nReferring to the fact that man must perform his actions in a sincere manner and for the sake \u200eof God in order for them to be effective in the Hereafter, His Eminence \u200estressed, \u201cWe must \u200estrive so that our actions benefit us in the world and the hereafter and avoid hypocritical \u200eactions because insincere \u200eand hypocritical acts cause losses in this world and in the afterlife \u200eand cause us to have no provisions in the Hereafter.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
