RNA \u2013 In his weekly ethics lesson, Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi-Amoli referred to the arrival of \u200ethe solemn month of Muharram and mourning for the Master of the Martyrs [Imam al-\u200eHusayn] and historical continuity of the Karbala incident and stressed upon the historical \u200eresilience and endurance of the tragedy of Karbala and said, \u201cAlthough in appearance, the \u200eevent of Karbala was a minor accident in comparison with many other historical events and \u200ecrimes, when you read the contemporary history book \u2018The History of the World Conqueror\u2019 \u200e\u200e[by Ata-Malek Juvayni 1226\u20131283] about the Mongol Horde, you see that the Mongols \u200eperpetrated crimes and atrocities which were tens and hundreds of times greater than those \u200edone in Karbala.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

The revered source of emulation continued, \u201cBut the names of the dead have been buried \u200ebut when Arba\u2019in al-Husayn occurs,\u200e\u200f \u200ftwenty million\u200f \u200fpilgrims march barefoot toward Karbala. \u200eThis is a celestial court \u2013 this is another account! Did Husayn ibn Ali fight for the world? He \u200efought for eternity \u2013 not for a year, a month, history, geography, sky nor earth \u2013 what he \u200efought for was above all if this.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

Ayatollah Javadi-Amoli added, \u201cWhen you investigate the Umayyad movement before the \u200eincident of Karbala, this movement \u2013 meaning Mu\u2019awiyah, as well as his father Abu Sufyan \u2013 \u200ewere disbelievers until the conquering of Makkah and then they became hypocrites. There is \u200ea luminous expression of Imam Ali wherein he said \u2018[outwardly they became Muslims but] \u200ethey didn\u2019t accept Islam but rather they surrendered out of fear.\u2019 They stood against the \u200eschool of thought [of Imam Ali] in every sense, sometimes they put the Quran on the top \u200eof spears, sometimes they accused the Quran of distortion, banned the writing of hadiths, \u200eand their efforts led to plots such that hadiths were not narrated and they distributed prizes \u200eon false occasions in order to buy people\u2019s religion.\u201d\u200e

\nHis Eminence emphasized, \u201cWhen the movement of Karbala becomes clear and when our \u200eduty is known is when we know to what extent the Umayyads were working. Now, to what \u200eextent are the foreigners and arrogant powers trying to harm the Islamic system? The duty \u200eof all of us is not to surrender due to this oppression because Imam al-Husayn said \u2018Like \u200eme, don\u2019t surrender to this oppression.\u2019\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cThis worthy country [Iran] has been suffering for a long time under pressure and \u200eoppression and was oppressed. Now, due to divine blessings, it\u2019s growing. It doesn\u2019t \u200einterfere in the affairs of others nor doesn\u2019t it have any intention of attacking others and no \u200eone has the power to attack Iran.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

Ayatollah Javadi-Amoli noted, \u201cIn Surah al-Tawbah, God says \u2018and let them find severity in \u200eyou<\/em>\u2019 [9:123]. We must live in such a manner that the enemies know that they cannot attack \u200eus. This is obligatory on all of us, whether through missiles or through another method, \u200eexcept through forbidden weapons. We must live in such a manner that the foreigners don\u2019t \u200esense an attack and even if you don\u2019t intent to attack, but they must not sense the power \u200ewhich exists in you.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
