{"id":19514,"date":"2020-10-26T04:44:33","date_gmt":"2020-10-26T04:44:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/?p=19514"},"modified":"2020-10-26T04:44:33","modified_gmt":"2020-10-26T04:44:33","slug":"hezbollah-desecration-of-islamic-sanctities-not-free-speech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/hezbollah-desecration-of-islamic-sanctities-not-free-speech\/","title":{"rendered":"Hezbollah: Desecration of Islamic Sanctities Not Free Speech"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"subtitle\">TEHRAN (IQNA) \u2013 The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah condemned the publication of derogatory cartoons depicting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), saying that an affront to Muslim sensibilities and Islam\u2019s most revered figure cannot be justified as a right to free speech and opinion.<\/div>\n<div class=\"body ah_body\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image_btn\" title=\"Hezbollah Desecration of Islamic Sanctities Not Free Speech\" src=\"https:\/\/iqna.ir\/files\/en\/news\/2020\/10\/26\/63399_912.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"\" height=\"\" align=\"middle\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a statement published on Sunday, Hezbollah expressed regret over disparaging tropes about Islam and the Prophet as well as the issue of Islamophobia in France.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat was published in France hurt the feelings of more than two billion Muslims, including the Muslim and Arab communities that have lived in Europe and France for decades.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hezbollah stressed that \u201call false claims of freedom of opinion and expression cannot justify insulting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and disparaging divine religions and beliefs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Lebanese resistance movement then called upon the French authorities to prevent the publication of materials that would provoke tension at the international level, Press TV reported.<\/p>\n<p>Also on Sunday, Kuwait&#8217;s non-governmental Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies boycotted French-made products over the display of defamatory cartoons in a French school class on freedom of expression, whose teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded outside the school in a Paris suburb on October 16.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll French products have been removed from all Consumer Cooperative Societies,\u201d union head Fahd al-Kishti told Reuters, adding that the move was in response to \u201crepeated insults\u201d against the Prophet and had been taken independently of Kuwait&#8217;s government.<\/p>\n<p>Kuwait&#8217;s Foreign Minister Shiekh Ahmad Nasser al-Mohammed al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah also met French Ambassador Marie Masdupuy on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The top Kuwaiti diplomat condemned Paty\u2019s killing as a horrendous crime, but stressed the need to avoid insulting religion in official and political remarks that \u201cinflame hatred, enmity and racism,\u201d the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry wrote in a post published on its official Twitter page.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation decried the French teacher\u2019s murder by an 18-year-old assailant but also criticized the \u201cjustification for blasphemy-based harassment of any religion in the name of freedom of expression.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TEHRAN (IQNA) \u2013 The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah condemned the publication of derogatory cartoons depicting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), saying that an affront to Muslim sensibilities and Islam\u2019s most revered figure cannot be justified as a right to free speech and opinion. &nbsp;
