(Photo by Reuters)<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<div>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>French President Emmanuel Macron has been facing a growing backlash in the Islamic world over\u00a0defending offensive\u00a0caricatures of Prophet Muhammad and ordering a crackdown on Islam and its followers in the European country.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Muslims in Asia have been holding protest rallies in recent days to vent their anger at Macron\u2019s Islamophobic statements, calling for a boycott of France&#8217;s\u00a0products and an apology from its head of state.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>In parallel with the popular shows of outrage, some governments summoned French envoys, while others issued strongly-worded statements in condemnation of Macron.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Earlier this month, a French school teacher was murdered by a teenager of Chechen origin after he showed his students much-criticized caricatures of Islam\u2019s Prophet earlier published by the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Following the incident, the French government unleashed a crackdown on mosques and Islamic organizations in the country, in what Muslims called a disproportionate response to the murder.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>At a national memorial for the teacher, Macron took advantage of the murder to attack Islam and tried to portray the victim as a \u201cfreedom-of-expression\u201d hero.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>He claimed\u00a0Islam as a religion was in a state of \u201ccrisis\u201d and said France would not \u201cgive up caricatures and drawings.\u201d The leader also declared war on \u201cIslamist separatism,\u201d which he claimed was taking over France\u2019s estimated six-million-strong Muslim population.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Analysts say\u00a0the deepening anti-France sentiment\u00a0in Islamic nations threatens to drive a wider rift between the European state and much of the broader Muslim world.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Jordanians gather near French embassy<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>On Tuesday afternoon, dozens of people demonstrated outside the French embassy in the Jordanian capital Amman in response to Macron\u2019s statements on Islam, the independent Arabic-language al-Ghad daily\u00a0newspaper reported.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 class=\"image\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.presstv.com\/photo\/20201028\/f18b7182-24eb-4db9-97ad-c4ac40717bae.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"555\" height=\"312\" \/><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>A woman gestures as\u00a0Jordanians chant slogans during a protest against cartoon publications of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in France and French President Emmanuel Macron&#8217;s comments, near the French embassy in Amman,\u00a0Jordan, on October 27, 2020. (Photo by AFP)<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Arab-Israeli demonstrators, wearing face masks for protection against the coronavirus, also staged a similar protest near the French embassy in Tel Aviv.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>The protesters held up signs depicting\u00a0Macron as a medieval crusading knight.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>In Yemen, protesters urge boycott of French goods<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Elsewhere in Yemen\u2019s southern coastal province of Aden, hundreds of people staged separate protest rallies against sacrilegious cartoons of Prophet Muhammad and Macron&#8217;s recent Islamophobic remarks.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Demonstrators took to streets in the cities of Khormakser and al-Ma\u2019ala on Tuesday evening to condemn Macron\u2019s statements against Islam and insulting cartoons of Prophet Muhammad.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>They raised banners reading \u201cOnly the Messenger of God\u201d, \u201cBoycott French Products\u201d and \u201cFrance offends the Prophet of the Ummah.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>The protesters were seen burning the flag of France, and chanting slogans.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Egypt&#8217;s al-Azhar, Sisi slam France as stores join boycott campaign<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Anger over Macron\u2019s remarks also spread to Egypt, a major ally of Paris in North Africa, with several stores joining the boycott campaign against France.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>The Grand Imam of Egypt\u2019s al-Azhar Islamic Center, Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayyeb, called on the international community to criminalize Islamophobia and anti-Muslim racism.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Tayyeb also noted that al-Azhar was strongly opposed to\u00a0the use of anti-Muslim sentiment to rally votes in elections.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>In turn, President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt\u00a0said on Wednesday that freedom of expression should stop at offending more than 1.5 billion people of Muslim faith.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Sisi further noted that he was against\u00a0any form of violence or terrorism from anyone in the name of defending religion, religious symbols or icons.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>&#8220;We also have rights. Those who offended our prophet have to know that the prophet is much more important to us than buying and selling,\u201d Abdel Qadir said in a\u00a0video\u00a0he posted on the Facebook page of his store.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Chechen leader: Paris forcing people into terrorism<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Furthermore, the head of Russia\u2019s North\u00a0Caucasus\u00a0region\u00a0of Chechnya said the Paris government was pushing people towards terrorism.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>\u201cYou are forcing people into terrorism, pushing people towards it, not leaving them any choice, creating the conditions for the growth of extremism in young people\u2019s heads.
