{"id":20399,"date":"2020-11-11T09:08:02","date_gmt":"2020-11-11T09:08:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/?p=20399"},"modified":"2020-11-12T11:58:12","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T11:58:12","slug":"iranian-diplomat-holds-talks-with-syrian-president-in-damascus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/iranian-diplomat-holds-talks-with-syrian-president-in-damascus\/","title":{"rendered":"Iranian Diplomat Holds Talks with Syrian President in Damascus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Senior assistant to the Iranian foreign minister, Ali Asghar Khaji, met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">In the Tuesday meeting, the two sides highlighted the importance of the international conference on the return home of Syrian refugees, being held in the Arab country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">They also hit out at Western countries\u2019 double standards on Syria\u2019s humanitarian issues and the West\u2019s efforts to impede the holding of the conference, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry\u2019s website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Assad praised Iran\u2019s support for the Syrian government and people, saying the conference can be a good basis for the continuation of humanitarian efforts, starting the reconstruction process and bringing security and welfare for Syrian people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Khaji, in turn, described the conference as a good start for easing the sufferings of Syrian refugees, confidence-building and the establishment of peace and security in Syria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">He stressed the significance of resolving the Syria crisis through political means, urging the Syrian Constitutional Committee to press ahead with its activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The Iranian official added that the moves by the committee can play a positive role in establishing peace and stability in Syria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Khaji is heading a delegation to hold consultations with Damascus authorities and attend the international conference.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Senior assistant to the Iranian foreign minister, Ali Asghar Khaji, met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus.
