TEHRAN (FNA)- Secretary of Iran\u2019s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani said that the recent insurgency in the US has shown a man with serious mental problems is ruling the US.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Shamkhani pointed, on his Twitter page, to the Wednesday night riots around the US Congress building, making it clear that the events cast doubt on the American President Donald Trump\u2019s health balance.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

He went on to say that some of the American senators have asked for Trump\u2019s immediate removal from office due to the same reason.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In the Election 2016, #Trump<\/a>‘s mental health was questioned. Following #CapitolHill<\/a> events, some senators demanded his removal under the 25th Amendment of constitution with same reason. Late on Wednesday, Trump protesters stormed the US Capitol building, destroying property and seizing the rotunda room, as Congress was trying to certify the results of Democrat Joe Biden’s presidential victory.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

According to the latest tally, at least four people have died and 52 arrested in the wake of violence in the Congress.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Back in August 2020, a leading psychoanalyst and clinical professor at the George Washington University School of Medicine claimed that President Donald Trump suffers from \u201cnarcissistic personality disorder\u201d.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. John Zinner, the former head of the Unit on Family Therapy Studies at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), made the claim in an interview with Yale forensic psychiatrist Bandy X Lee for Raw Story, according to The Independent.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

During the interview, that was published on Tuesday August 11, Dr. Lee asked the psychoanalyst what he thought of the claims made by the president\u2019s niece Dr. Mary L Trump about her uncle\u2019s mental health.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Trump, a clinical psychologist, claimed that Trump is a \u201cnarcissist\u201d, in her memoir, Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World\u2019s Most Dangerous Man, that was released in June.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Zinner, who researched narcissistic disorders during his time at the NIMH told Dr. Lee that he agrees with the diagnosis.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are being struck by a perfect storm, a combination of a deadly pandemic combined with an utter failure in leadership by the very person who should have been in charge of preventing this terrible national emergency,\u201d Dr. Zinner said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDonald Trump has failed us because he is, as he has always been, incompetent, and he suffers from extremely severe mental disorders, which render him incapable of attending to any issue beyond his own personal need for adulation,” he continued.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe mental condition he suffers most from is formally known as a severe instance of narcissistic personality disorder,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Zinner stated that the disorder \u201cis the failure in childhood and beyond to develop an inner sense of worth or self-esteem\u201d, and added that it \u201cmakes one\u2019s worth entirely dependent upon admiration from others\u201d.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In 2017, Dr. Zinner claimed that the president\u2019s mental health posed an \u201cexistential threat\u201d to the world as he has the ability to launch nuclear weapons at any time.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c[He] has a particular kind of character that\u2019s very well known, especially by psychoanalytically orientated mental health people,\u201d Dr. Zinner said about the president in 2017.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat it involves is a fundamental self-esteem problem; an insecure self-esteem, side by side with a sense of grandiosity. So the person has a very contradictory image of themselves,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Zinner did not diagnose the president with anything specific in 2017, but he is now among 37 other mental health professionals who have speculated on the state of Trump\u2019s mental health, following the release of The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 37 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President, edited by Dr. Lee.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Many of the long-standing claims made by Dr. Zinner and Dr. Lee about the president\u2019s mental health have drawn judgment from some in the psychiatric establishment.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The American Psychiatric Association states it is unethical for members to speculate about the mental health of a public figure they have not personally examined, under the Goldwater rule.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

However, Dr. Zinner claims that the rule does not apply to the president, and he told Dr. Lee that \u201cthe basic guidelines for the ethical canons says that a psychiatrist\u2019s responsibility, \u2018first and foremost\u2019, is to his or her patients and to society and to his colleagues and himself, in that order. It does not include a public figure\u201d.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In 2016, after multiple journalists asked for the organization to comment on Trump\u2019s mental health, the American Psychological Association president Susan McDaniel said that the ruling does apply to public figures and added that she and her colleagues could not comment.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

She added, \u201cOur Code of Ethics clearly warns psychologists against diagnosing any person, including public figures, whom they have not personally examined.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
