Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard [IRG] unveiled on Friday an underground missile base along the Gulf coast in Hormozgan province.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The underground base was unveiled during a visit by IRG Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami and the force’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Reza Tangsiri.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Major General Salami said that the Islamic Republic seeks to boost its defense capabilities to safeguard Iran\u2019s territorial integrity.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur logic in defending the territorial integrity, the independence of the country, and the achievements of the Islamic Revolution is strengthening,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

He added that boosting Iran\u2019s defense capabilities is the only way to foil the conspiracies of the enemies.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat you see today is one of several IRG Naval Strategic Missile facilities,\u201d he noted, adding that the long-range missiles have pinpoint precision with high destructive power and they are capable of resisting against enemy’s electronic warfare equipment.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Iran has taken great strides seeking to attain self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and defense systems in the face of decades-long sanctions and arms embargoes on the country.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Islamic Republic produces a wide variety of advanced weapons systems and equipment based on its own technological capabilities.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Iranian authorities have invariably asserted that the country\u2019s missile program has not been established for non-conventional purposes and is only meant as part of the country’s deterrence capability.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
