{"id":26559,"date":"2021-10-08T09:15:20","date_gmt":"2021-10-08T09:15:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/?p=26559"},"modified":"2021-10-08T09:15:20","modified_gmt":"2021-10-08T09:15:20","slug":"saudi-led-coalition-continues-hijacking-yemen-oil-amid-un-silence-official","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/saudi-led-coalition-continues-hijacking-yemen-oil-amid-un-silence-official\/","title":{"rendered":"Saudi-led Coalition Continues Hijacking Yemen Oil amid UN Silence &#8211; Official"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The head of Yemen\u2019s Oil Company Ammar al-Adhrai said the Saudi-led coalition that has been invading the impoverished country continues to impound Yemen-bound oil tankers amid the United Nations\u2019 silence on the piracy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Thursday, al-Adhrai said the vessels keep being prevented from entering Yemen\u2019s lifeline al-Hudaydah port, despite their holding the UN-required documentation that authorizes their mandate, Yemen\u2019s al-Masirah television network reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe silence on the part of the UN, which has closed its eyes on the issue and does not take any action in the face of the Yemeni people\u2019s suffering, is one of the most important factors that encourages\u201d the coalition to keep stealing the direly-needed crude, he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, the coalition impounded a tanker carrying some 25,000 tons of diesel destined for Yemen\u2019s private sector companies.<\/p>\n<p>Including the diesel-laden tanker, four such vessels have already been impounded in the same way by the coalition, the company says.<\/p>\n<p>Estimates provided by al-Masirah show that the Saudi-led forces have been plundering 85 percent of the profit that is made from extracting resources from Yemen\u2019s oil and gas fields.<\/p>\n<p>The coalition invaded Yemen in March 2015 to return the country\u2019s control to a Riyadh-friendly former government.<\/p>\n<p>It has so far fallen way short of the goal.
