{"id":27628,"date":"2021-11-19T04:36:24","date_gmt":"2021-11-19T04:36:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/?p=27628"},"modified":"2021-11-19T04:36:24","modified_gmt":"2021-11-19T04:36:24","slug":"iran-top-negotiator-success-in-vienna-depends-on-p41-readiness-to-remove-bans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilayah.info\/en\/iran-top-negotiator-success-in-vienna-depends-on-p41-readiness-to-remove-bans\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran Top Negotiator: Success in Vienna Depends on P4+1, Readiness to Remove Bans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Iran\u2019s top negotiator says the forthcoming talks in the Austrian capital of Vienna will succeed if the P4+1 group of countries have a \u201cfirm determination\u201d and stand \u201cpractically\u201d ready to bring about a removal of the United States\u2019 sanctions against Iran.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ali Baqeri-Kani, who serves as Iran\u2019s deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, made the remarks in a tweet on Thursday, following meetings with resident ambassadors in Tehran, ambassadors of the Persian Gulf states and ambassadors of Mediterranean and East European countries on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Baqeri-Kani said following those meetings, \u201cI stated that success of the future talks depends on other side\u2019s \u2018firm determination\u2019 &amp; \u2018practical readiness\u2019 to \u2018remove sanctions.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The United States unilaterally abandoned the multilateral nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action [JCPOA], in 2018 despite Iran\u2019s full compliance with its nuclear undertakings, as repeatedly certified by the UN nuclear agency. The US then unleashed a \u201cmaximum pressure\u201d campaign against Iran, which practically deprived the country of all of the deal\u2019s economic benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Iran fully honored its nuclear obligations for an entire year, after which it decided to ramp up its nuclear work as a legal \u201cremedial measure\u201d against the US violation of the deal and the abject failure on the part of the other signatories, the E3 in particular, to safeguard its benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Envoys from Iran and the P4+1 \u2013 Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China \u2013 are expected to hold the seventh round of discussions in Vienna on November 29. The negotiations were paused in June, when Iran held its presidential election. Since then, the new Iranian administration has been reviewing the details of the six rounds of discussions held under the previous administration.<\/p>\n<p>The US administration of Joe Biden has said it is willing to rejoin the deal, but it has shown an overriding propensity for maintaining some of the sanctions as a tool of pressure. Tehran insists that all sanctions should first be removed in a verifiable manner before it reverses its remedial measures.<\/p>\n<p>Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said last week that Tehran and the remaining parties to the JCPOA can reach a \u201cgood agreement in a short time\u201d only in case of a \u201cserious and positive\u201d approach to the upcoming talks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Islamic Republic has no intention to be locked in the stalemate remaining from the previous negotiations\u2026I believe that if the opposite sides enter in the Vienna [talks] with a serious and positive approach, it will be possible to achieve a good agreement in a short time,\u201d Amir Abdollahian said in a post on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Russia\u2019s lead negotiator at the Vienna talks, Mikhail Ulyanov, said in a post on his Twitter on Wednesday that he has held talks with Iran\u2019s Charg\u00e9 d&#8217;affaires to International Organizations in Vienna Reza Ghaebi.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the two sides discussed a range of \u201cimportant\u201d issues, including a planned visit by Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency [IAEA] Rafael Grossi to Iran next week, session of the IAEA\u2019s Board of Governors and the resumption of the Vienna talks.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran [AEOI], Behrouz Kamalvandi, said the UN nuclear agency\u2019s chief would arrive in Tehran on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>He added that Grossi would hold talks with the Iranian foreign minister and the AEOI Head Mohammad Eslami on Tuesday, noting that the visit would take place in line with cooperation between Iran and the IAEA.<\/p>\n<p>Grossi\u2019s trip comes just before next week\u2019s meeting of the 35-nation Board of Governors.<\/p>\n<p>The IAEA chief paid a one-day visit to Tehran in September and held talks with the AEOI head.<\/p>\n<p>At a joint press conference after the meeting, Eslami described the negotiations centering on technical issues as \u201cconstructive\u201d and said \u201cconfidence-building\u201d is what matters for Tehran and the UN nuclear watchdog.<\/p>\n<div class=\"b-article__text\">\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/joinchat\/TG_C3kK6vkA0NmE0\">https:\/\/t.me\/joinchat\/TG_C3kK6vkA0NmE0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/joinchat\/IFutC8XuD4AyMjM0\">https:\/\/t.me\/joinchat\/IFutC8XuD4AyMjM0<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Iran\u2019s top negotiator says the forthcoming talks in the Austrian capital of Vienna will succeed if the P4+1 group of countries have a \u201cfirm determination\u201d and stand \u201cpractically\u201d ready to bring about a removal of the United States\u2019 sanctions against Iran.
