Whoever considers it the name of a land does not decline it, and whoever considers it the name of a valley declines it, because it is masculine. Likewise, whoever considers it a verbal noun, as in His saying:<br \/>\n\u201cSo he was called in the sacred valley of \u1e6cuw\u0101\u201d (3).<br \/>\nAnd \u201ctwice\u201d\u2014it is said that the valley was given this name because it was sanctified twice, as though it were folded (\u1e6duw\u0101) in blessing two times.<br \/>\n\u201cAnd the heavens will be folded in His right hand\u201d (4): this is a depiction of His majesty and greatness alone, without any conception of a physical grasp, and \u201cHis right hand\u201d is neither literal nor metaphorical.<br \/>\n1 \u2013 \u1e6c\u0101 H\u0101: 12; An-N\u0101zi\u2018\u0101t: 16.<br \/>\n2 \u2013 i.e., \u1e6dayy (folding).<br \/>\n3 \u2013 An-N\u0101zi\u2018\u0101t: 16.<br \/>\n4 \u2013 Az-Zumar: 67.<br \/>\nThe Seventeenth Category (Words Beginning with \u1e92\u0101\u2019)<br \/>\n(\u1e92am\u0101\u2019)<br \/>\n(\u1e92ama\u2019) (1): thirst.<br \/>\n1 \u2013 At-Tawbah: 121.<br \/>\nThe Eighteenth Category (Words Beginning with \u2018Ayn)<br \/>\n(\u2018Ab\u0101)<br \/>\n\u201cSay: My Lord would not care for you were it not for your supplication\u201d (1):<br \/>\nThat is, my Lord would not be concerned with you nor give weight to you were it not for your supplication\u2014meaning your worship. It is also said: were it not for your calling upon Him when harm befalls you, out of hope in Him and humility. This indicates the great status of supplication with God. It is also said that its meaning is: what would my Lord do with you were it not that He calls you to Islam.<br \/>\n(\u2018At\u0101)<br \/>\n(\u2018Ataw) (2): they acted arrogantly or tyrannically.<br \/>\nAl-\u2018\u0101t\u012b: one who is deeply entrenched in corruption. According to Al-Mubarrad: one who does not accept admonition.<br \/>\n\u201cThey rebelled against the command of their Lord\u201d (3): meaning the people rebelled arrogantly against the command of their Lord.<br \/>\nThe wind (\u2018\u0101tiyah) (4), and (\u2018itiyyan) have the same meaning.<br \/>\nHis saying: \u201cI have reached extreme old age (\u2018itiyyan)\u201d (5): meaning dryness in the joints. Al-\u2018it\u012b: dryness of the joints.<br \/>\n(\u2018Ath\u0101)<br \/>\n(Ta\u2018thaw) (6): al-\u2018ath\u012b, al-ma\u2018th\u016b, and al-\u2018athw: the most severe form of corruption.<br \/>\n\u201cAnd do not spread corruption in the land\u201d (7): do not cause \u0641\u0633\u0627\u062f (corruption).<br \/>\n(\u2018Ad\u0101)<br \/>\n(Al-\u2018ad\u0101wah) (8): alienation of hearts through intentions.<br \/>\n(\u2018Adwan) (9): aggression. According to Ibn \u2018Arafah: not deliberately exceeding what has been set as a limit.<br \/>\n\u201cThose are the transgressors\u201d (5): meaning those who are complete in aggression and extreme in it.<br \/>\n\u201cIndeed, among your spouses and your children are enemies to you\u201d (6): meaning a cause leading to disobedience to God.<br \/>\n(Bil-\u2018udwah) (7), with kasrah or \u1e0dammah on the \u2018ayn: the bank of a valley.<br \/>\n(Ad-duny\u0101) (8) and (al-qu\u1e63w\u0101) (9): the feminine forms of al-adn\u0101 (nearest) and al-aq\u1e63\u0101 (farthest).<br \/>\n(\u2018Ar\u0101)<br \/>\n\u201cSome of our gods have afflicted you with evil\u201d (10): meaning they intended you with harm; from \u2018ar\u0101hu ya\u2018r\u016bhu\u2014when something befalls someone.<br \/>\n(Bil-\u2018ar\u0101\u2019) (11): an open space with no trees or anything else for concealment. It is also said that al-\u2018ar\u0101\u2019 means the face of the earth.<br \/>\n(Al-\u2018urwah al-wuthq\u0101) (12): the firm bond\u2014sound reason; it is a protection for the one who holds fast to correct understanding and upright judgment.<br \/>\n(\u2018Az\u0101)<br \/>\n\u201cOn the right and on the left, in groups (\u2018iz\u012bn)\u201d (13): scattered groups, group by group. It is the plural of \u2018izzah. Its origin is \u2018izwah, because each group affiliates itself differently from the other.
