The Fifth Hadith
\nThe Master of this Affair bears a resemblance to five of the prophets.
\nNarrated by Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-W\u0101sit\u012b and Muhammad ibn Y\u016bnus, who said: al-Hasan ibn Qiy\u0101m\u0101 al-\u1e62ayraf\u012b narrated to us. He said: I asked Ab\u016b al-Hasan al-Rid\u0101 (peace be upon him) and said, \u201cMay I be your ransom, what happened to your father?\u201d
\nHe said: \u201cHe passed away, just as his forefathers (peace be upon them) passed away.\u201d
\nI said: \u201cThen what should I do about a hadith that Zar\u2018ah ibn Muhammad al-\u1e24a\u1e0dram\u012b narrated to me, from Sam\u0101\u2018ah ibn Mihr\u0101n, that Ab\u016b \u2018Abdull\u0101h (peace be upon him) said: \u2018This son of mine bears a resemblance to five of the prophets: he will be envied as Joseph (peace be upon him) was envied, and he will go into occultation as Joseph went into occultation,\u2019 and he mentioned three others?\u201d
\nHe said: \u201cZar\u2018ah has lied; this is not how Sam\u0101\u2018ah\u2019s hadith is. Rather, he said: \u2018The Master of this Affair\u2019\u2014meaning the Q\u0101\u2019im\u2014bears a resemblance to five of the prophets, and he did not say \u2018my son\u2019.\u201d [8]\nI say: This report, like the previous one, shows that Imam al-\u1e62\u0101diq (peace be upon him) did not say \u2018my son\u2019 such that the report would apply to Imam M\u016bs\u0101 ibn Ja\u2018far (peace be upon him). Rather, he said \u2018the Master of this Affair\u2019, meaning the Q\u0101\u2019im, al-Mahd\u012b, the Proof, son of al-Hasan (peace be upon them).
