The source “confirmed the interception of a trespassing American drone in the vicinity of Bushehr,” the report read.<\/p>\n
According to the source, the interception was carried out “through the launch of an air defense missile at the drone,” it added.<\/p>\n
Fars News Agency, meanwhile, cited its correspondent as reporting the interception by the Islamic Republic’s integrated air defense system.<\/p>\n
The defense system, the agency noted, confronted the aircraft through air defense apparatus deployed near the cities of Jam and Kangan in Bushehr Province.<\/p>\n
The hostile aircraft was confronted “over the waters of the Persian Gulf,” it stated.<\/p>\n
“Search operations to locate the wreckage of the aircraft are ongoing.”<\/p>\n
The province, which hosts the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, also came under multiple assaults throughout the United States’ and the Israeli regime’s latest bout of unprovoked aggression that targeted the Islamic Republic from February 28 to April 7.<\/p>\n
A day earlier, Tasnim News Agency reported that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)’s Navy had forced an American tanker trying to illegally transit through the Strait of Hormuz, despite Iran’s restrictions, to turn back.<\/p>\n
Citing an informed military source, the agency said the tanker had switched off its tracking system while trying to commit the violation.<\/p>\n
American forces responded by targeting an open area near the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas.<\/p>\n
The Islamic Republic has shut down the strait to enemies and their allies in retaliation for the unprovoked aggression.<\/p>\n
The latest violations come, despite US President Donald Trump’s recent announcements pointing to the likelihood of realization of a memorandum of understanding with Iran.<\/p>\n
The Islamic Republic has named cessation of aggression on all fronts, removal of an illegal US naval blockade, elimination of unlawful sanctions targeting the country, and unfreezing of Iran’s frozen assets as its main demands.<\/p>\n
