**In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful**<\/strong><\/p>\n

Praise be to Allah, the One, the Unique, the Eternal Refuge; He neither begets nor is born, and there is none comparable to Him. Blessings and peace be upon Muhammad, His chosen servant and selected Messenger, whom He sent to all creation as a bearer of glad tidings, a warner, a caller to Allah by His permission, and a radiant lamp; and upon the People of his Household, the leaders of guidance and lamps in the darkness, from whom Allah has removed all impurity and purified them completely. And peace be upon those who follow guidance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To proceed: when Allah, Glorified and Exalted, made following His Prophet the key to His good pleasure and the path to His gardens, by His saying, Mighty and Exalted:<\/strong><\/p>\n

this great success moved me to compile a book containing the noble character of the Prophet, the beauty of his manners, and what he commanded his community to uphold. For he (peace be upon him and his family) said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

> **\u201cI was only sent to perfect noble character.\u201d**<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since knowledge of a thing comes before acting upon it, I found in the words of the Commander of the Faithful, \u2018Ali (peace be upon him), that which contains the true essence of the way of the prophets: namely, complete detachment from people and total turning to Allah in hope and fear, and detachment from this world in favor of the Hereafter.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Among all of them, he singled out our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) as possessing the perfection of this way, and he urged and encouraged us to follow his example. He said (peace be upon him), after a long statement about a lying claimant who falsely alleges that he hopes in Allah:<\/strong><\/p>\n

> **\u201cHe lies\u2014and by the Almighty! What is the matter with him, that his hope is not evident in his deeds? Every hope is recognized by one\u2019s actions, except hope in Allah, for it is flawed; and every fear is real, except fear of Allah, for it is defective. He hopes in Allah in great matters\u2026\u201d**<\/strong><\/p>\n
