Foxman <a href=\"http:\/\/t.co\/VrRhzICFn2\">pic.twitter.com\/VrRhzICFn2<\/a> \u2014 ADL (@ADL_National) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ADL_National\/statuses\/461160309315485696\">April 29, 2014<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><script src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">And Bloomberg News columnist\u00a0Jeffrey Goldberg\u00a0has\u00a0acknowledged\u00a0that he himself previously \u201cused the word \u2018apartheid\u2019 not only to describe a possible terrible future for Israel, but also as a way of depicting some current and most unfortunate facts on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Goldberg should know, since he is\u00a0a former guard in an Israeli army prison camp for Palestinians.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Yet, Goldberg now claims it is inappropriate to use the word because \u201cto describe the West Bank as an experiment in apartheid is insulting to the actual victims of South African apartheid, who lived under a uniquely baroque and grotesque set of race-based laws.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cCheek\u201d<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">But this is what legendary South African anti-apartheid freedom fighter\u00a0Archbishop Emeritus of Cape Town Desmond Tutu\u00a0has called \u201ccheek\u201d \u2013 another word for\u00a0<a style=\"font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit; color: #000066;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/chutzpah\">chutzpah<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Tutu and his daughter Reverend Mpho Tutu were on HuffPostLive yesterday to talk about their new book\u00a0<em style=\"font-weight: inherit;\">The Book of Forgiving<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Tutu was asked about Kerry\u2019s comments. Although he was unaware of the controversy, he addressed the issue of using the word apartheid to describe Israel\u2019s oppression of Palestinians (video above):<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"font-style: italic;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit;\">I\u2019m glad people have come to have this disgust about apartheid and one wants to acknowledge just how much we were supported by the international community. But surely if I, having experienced apartheid go to another part of the world and see things that reflect almost uncannily the sort of things that happened to us \u2013 I mean you could be stopped as a black person by police at roadblocks and it didn\u2019t matter. I was bishop of Johannesburg when police would stop our car and want to body-search my wife and children \u2026 and I go and I visit the Holy Land and I see things that are a mirror image of the sort of things I experienced under the apartheid. How can you stop me from the right to describe as I feel?
