Technological Leap in China: 700 AI Models Registered

China’s National Cyber Space Administration reported that more than 700 generative AI products have officially completed their registration procedures, reflecting the rapid acceleration of the Chinese tech sector. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the total number of products running on the open-source operating system “HarmonyOS” exceeded 1.19 billion units, while embodied AI has gradually begun moving toward industrial applications, according to Xinhua, citing the administration.
These figures demonstrate that China has become a major global player, competing strongly with the United States after the Chinese government designated AI as a national strategic priority, aiming to achieve global leadership in this field by 2030.
In this context, a report from the AI Standards and Innovation Center of the U.S. Department of Commerce revealed that Chinese companies are developing world-class AI models, confirming that China’s ecosystem is deeper and more diverse than previously thought, intensifying competition in this critical sector.
