On Sunday evening, June 7, 2026, Iran responded to the Israeli attack that targeted the Marijeh area in Beirut’s southern suburbs, which resulted in two people being killed and 20 Lebanese civilians injured. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched several missiles at an Israeli military base in northern occupied Palestine, stating that it “was the launch point for the attack on the southern suburbs.”

In a statement, the IRGC said: “In response to the extensive crimes committed by the Zionist entity in southern Lebanon, which included killing and widespread displacement of civilians in the areas of Tyre, Nabatieh, and other regions including the southern suburbs of Beirut, the Aerospace Force of the Guard targeted the ‘Ramat David Airbase’—which served as the launch point for these attacks—with ballistic missiles.”

The IRGC added: “We responded to the widespread Zionist crime in southern Lebanon and the accompanying killing and displacement across other areas, including the southern suburbs. Our acceptance of the ceasefire was conditional on a halt to hostilities on all fronts. However, the United States and Israel, as usual, did not honor their commitments and continued military actions and attacks in Lebanon. They also violated the ceasefire through repeated actions against Iranian coasts and vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, the Sea of Oman, and the Indian Ocean.”

It stated that “tonight’s operation is merely a warning,” emphasizing that “if the attacks are repeated, the responses will be broader and will include all American–Zionist targets in the region.”

**Explosions in Northern Occupied Palestine**

The Israeli army announced that it had detected “launches toward Israel.” Israeli Army Radio reported that “Iran launched more than 10 missiles at Israel tonight in four successive waves.” Explosions were heard across wide areas of northern occupied Palestine along with the sounding of sirens, after Israel’s Home Front Command announced it had detected missiles launched from Iran toward Israel and urged settlers to “enter shelters immediately.” Israeli media also reported that shelters were opened across the country.

Israeli media said that Iranian hypersonic ballistic missiles fell on northern Israel and major cities, sparking fires in several areas of the north and causing damage in multiple locations. Videos circulating online showed Iranian missiles crossing northern occupied Palestine.

Air traffic at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv was also suspended after the missile launches from Iran were detected.

**Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters Warns Israel**

For his part, the commander of Iran’s Khatam al‑Anbiya Headquarters stated that “the aggressive Zionist entity continues to escalate its attacks against the oppressed Lebanese people day after day through repeated violations of the ceasefire, with a green light and support from the criminal United States and amid the silence of international institutions.”

In a statement, the commander said: “Despite previous warnings issued by the Islamic Republic, the child‑killing Zionist entity has crossed all red lines and escalated its attacks in southern Lebanon, targeting Beirut’s southern suburbs.” He added: “We had previously warned that if attacks on Beirut’s southern suburbs expanded, we would target sites inside the occupied territories.”

He called on the Israeli army to “stop its attacks on southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs,” warning that “if these attacks expand or if there is retaliation against any action taken by Iran, the Zionist entity will face more painful and decisive strikes, and destructive operations will be carried out against the entity and its supporters.” He also accused Israel of committing war crimes by using prohibited weapons, including phosphorus bombs.

During the Iranian missile response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted a photo on the platform X showing the Iranian and Lebanese flags side by side.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced in a statement Sunday evening that the Israeli attack on the southern suburbs resulted in two deaths and 20 people injured.

Iran had recently announced that it would launch missile attacks against Israel if Beirut’s southern suburbs were attacked.
