There is no doubt that the arrogant powers have economic objectives and seek to impose domination over the world economy in order to plunder the wealth of oppressed nations. Imam Khamenei, may his shadow endure, points to this reality and warns Muslims against it, saying:

> “Arrogance—whether in Iran or in other Islamic countries—wants peoples who are captive, humiliated, submissive, and obedient to it; peoples who have no regard for their own glories and cultural heritage, and who show no resistance to the plundering of their material and spiritual wealth.”

## Depriving Countries of Self-Sufficiency

Arrogance strives with all its power, at all times, to prevent any country from reaching the stage of self‑sufficiency in food, medicine, and basic industries—because such self‑sufficiency can free nations from the chains of extortion.

Regarding the experience of the Iranians in the early stage following the victory of the Islamic Revolution—when they inherited a country in which the Shah had reduced Iran to merely a consumer of foreign goods—Imam Khamenei, may his shadow endure, says:

> “Our country today—which has become the target of the ill intentions and hatreds of the tyrants of the world because it refuses to submit to their arrogance—needs more than ever to guarantee access to food, so that it will not have to depend on other countries for its bread, daily food, oils, and meat, and so that it will not need those who may bargain away its dignity in exchange for such necessities.

> Providing food for our people is extremely important. When it was announced last year that the country had reached the stage of self‑sufficiency in wheat production, in my view that was truly a great عيد (celebration) for this country.
>
> During the era of the tyrannical regime, the Iranian government used to import wheat from America, and Russia used to build grain silos for them. They were not even capable of building a single grain silo themselves! The Russians had to come for that purpose, because such an industry did not exist in Iran at the time.
>
> In the early years of the Revolution, young members of the University Jihad came and said: Imam Khomeini, may his soul be sanctified, had given an order concerning wheat cultivation. Well, wheat needs storage silos—so where were we to turn? We had no choice except to rely on our own determination and ingenuity. So the youth began working.
>
> The usurping Zionist companies and others want to plunder the wealth of the world, and it is difficult for them to see a people advancing in all fields and exposing the falsehood of their claims. Nevertheless, the Iranian people will continue to move forward, Islam will rise even higher than it is now, and the banner of Islamic dignity will fly over the heads of this people and all the peoples of the Islamic world, God willing.”
