**Spokesman for the Iranian Army: Any New US Aggression Will Be Met with an Overwhelming Response**
The spokesperson for the Iranian Army, Brigadier General Mohammad Akrami-Nia, affirmed that the United States continues to violate its obligations under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Islamic Republic of Iran. This is occurring through US attempts to impose a maritime route south of the Strait of Hormuz, contrary to the terms of the agreement, with Akrami-Nia warning that any new US aggression would be met with an overwhelming response.
In an interview with an Iranian news channel on Sunday, Akrami-Nia stated that the United States’ record of reneging on its international obligations is “replete with violations.” He pointed out that the current US President, during his previous term, had withdrawn from the Iranian nuclear deal and overturned a number of international agreements.
He added, “The United States’ withdrawal from international institutions and organizations during the President’s first and second terms reflects a consistent approach of failing to adhere to international agreements and commitments,” noting that this behavior is being repeated today in dealings regarding the MoU signed with Iran.
He explained that Washington is “attempting to establish an illegal and unprincipled corridor south of the Strait of Hormuz, in contradiction to the provisions of the MoU,” emphasizing that these attempts constitute a clear breach of the agreement and aim to impose new realities in one of the most strategically sensitive regions.
Akrami-Nia stressed that the MoU clearly states that the Islamic Republic of Iran is the entity responsible for regulating navigation and transit in the Strait of Hormuz. He noted that Tehran is simultaneously working to strengthen understandings and joint arrangements with the Sultanate of Oman within a framework based on dialogue and peaceful, democratic cooperation.
The Army spokesman argued that American interference in the region is the primary cause of insecurity, adding that Washington is attempting to impose its vision by force, which exacerbates tension and threatens the stability of the entire region.
He affirmed that the Islamic Republic will defend all its rights stipulated in the MoU, calling on the United States to adhere to what it has signed and to respect the region’s security and the interests of its nations, rather than following policies of escalation.
“The Americans should not expose their allies to insecurity because of their policies,” he added, emphasizing that “every aggression targeting the islands, coasts, or facilities belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran will be met with an overwhelming response.”
He indicated that US forces “intervened again last night,” adding: “We responded to them with strength and firmness, and we proved that any aggression will not pass without a response.”
Discussing the readiness of the armed forces, Akrami-Nia emphasized that the Iranian Army has never stopped enhancing its combat capabilities, explaining that developing military readiness has been a consistent approach from the beginning.
He said that the ceasefire period that followed the reaching of the MoU was utilized to raise the level of defensive and combat capabilities, adding: “We have never trusted the Americans or the enemies, and therefore we exploited this period to strengthen our military potential and prepare for all possibilities.”
He explained that the Iranian armed forces are continuously working to update their bank of targets and develop their operational capabilities to ensure readiness to deal with various potential scenarios, stressing that this process is “continuous, daily, and does not stop.”
He renewed his call for the United States to cease its “destabilizing interventions in the region,” warning that the continuation of these policies will only lead to further tension and instability.
In another part of his speech, Akrami-Nia paused to reflect on the massive public participation in the farewell and funeral ceremonies of the leader of the revolution, the martyr Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei (may his soul be sanctified). He considered that the millions of crowds witnessed by the world in Iran and Iraq “constituted a historical and civilizational epic by all measures.”
He said that the Iranian people “turned grief into a national epic and turned threats into an opportunity to strengthen the power of the Islamic Republic,” praising the large public presence that filled the streets and squares, and the role played by various security and media institutions in the success of the funeral ceremonies.
He also extended his thanks to the Iraqi people for their broad participation in the funeral, confirming that this presence reflects the depth of the relationship between the two peoples and unity of stance in the face of challenges.
He noted that the Iranian Army also published a message of appreciation from the Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Major General Amir Hatami, in which he expressed his pride in the millions who participated in the funeral ceremonies.
Regarding the significance of this participation, Akrami-Nia emphasized that the most important internal message it carried was the strengthening of national unity and internal cohesion, considering that the large popular presence reinforced the legitimacy of the system and showed the extent of popular support for it.
He added that the masses confirmed, through their participation, their adherence to the path of resistance, and that “avenging the martyr leader represents the general will of the people,” pointing out that this presence embodied steadfastness in the approach drawn by the martyr Imam and continuing on his path.
Externally, the Iranian Army spokesman saw that the millions-strong crowds sent a clear message to the world: the Islamic Republic possesses significant popular support that constitutes a source of its power and might.
He concluded by saying that this popular power will become an additional element in strengthening the might of the Islamic Republic, calling on the peoples and governments of the world to respect the will of the Iranian people and their status and role in the regional equations.
