The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on Monday morning, spoke in a meeting with the people of Tabriz and others from the province of Eastern Azerbaijan, on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the uprising of the people of Tabriz on the 18th February 1978.
He was grateful to every individual of the Iranian nation for displaying the glory, greatness and strength of the country in the rallies celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Islamic revolution.
His eminence presented resistance and unity as the two main messages of this year’s demonstration.
He stated: “In the revolution day demonstrations, the people of Iran came out with more passion and in more numbers to reply to the arrogance, greediness, disrespect and insolence of American officials and pronounced that under no circumstances will they submit to the coercion and blackmail of the Americans.”
Ayatollah Khamenei stated: “Words are incapable to thank and appreciate, the great nation of Iran, however, firstly we should prostrate in thankfulness in front of God who is the transformer of hearts and the changer of will and determination. Secondly, I would affectionately like to thank every individual of the Iranian nation for presenting the striking, joyful and lively face of the Islamic revolution on 22nd Bahman (anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution) to the rest of the world.”
In explaining further the message of resistance and persistence on its aspirations, his eminence stated: “Our positive aspirations are to act according to Islamic principles, realise social justice, have the presence of the people in different arenas and situations, have independence in economics and independence in culture which in its roots is Iranian and Islamic, provide security for the oppressed, oppose the oppressor, progress the nation, gain prominence in knowledge and development in ethics and spirituality.”
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed upon not submitting to the threats and coercion of America which is an embodiment of the hegemonic system. He emphasised: “On 22nd Bahman this year, the Iranian nation pronounced that it will never surrender to the threats and pressure of America.”
His eminence criticized certain efforts that are being made to present a false impression of America to the people. He stated: “Some people are trying to decorate the face of America by removing their malice, cruelty and terror; and they introduce the government of America as humane and one which likes the people of Iran, however, the efforts of these people will reach nowhere.”
The leader of the Islamic revolution pointed towards the dark history of the American government, especially in the last 80 years. He said “Some of the evil actions of America include, starting bloody wars, killing innocent people, supporting oppressive dictatorships in different parts of the world, supporting international terrorism, supporting terrorist governments of which the embodiment is the trumped-up, usurping and criminal Zionist regime; the attack on Iraq and killing at the very least tens of thousands of people, the attack on Afghanistan, establishing the path for companies that murder and assassinate such as Blackwater and founding and supporting extremist takfiri groups.”
He continued: “How can it be possible to disguise this horrid and criminal face [of America] in front of the Iranian people?”
Ayatollah Khamenei stated: Some people in the previous government and some people in the current government hold a notion that if we negotiate our nuclear program with America, the problem will be solved. As a result of their persistence I have stated that I am not opposed to the negotiations however, at the same time, I emphasised that I am not optimistic [about it].”
His eminence stated: “The signs which pointed towards pessimism are becoming clearer now and a clear example and reason for this are the absurd and insulting statements made by the American senators and officials against the Iranian nation.”
The Supreme Leader of the Revolution said: “The Iranian nation answered the insults of the American officials in the 22nd Bahman rally this year.”
Ayatollah Khamenei stated: “Do the Americans not feel ashamed by mentioning human rights… with all this disgrace; they should not even bring the phrase human rights to their tongue.”
In reference to American actions against human rights, such as Guantanamo and Abu Ghuraib prison, support of known terrorists in the world and their breaking of oaths and promises, the leader stated: “With this thick and dark portfolio, the Americans should be inflicted with shame and humility by mentioning human rights, however, they still flagrantly [claim] human rights.”
Speaking specifically about the negotiations he stated: “Iran will not be the one to disrupt something that it has started however, everyone should know that the animosity of America is against the roots of the Islamic revolution and against Islam and this animosity [of theirs] will not finish as a result of these negotiations.”
In conclusion, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei concluded by stating: “With divine blessings, the objectives of America and the arrogant powers of the world regarding the nation of Iran will be defeated. This nation will celebrate its victory in front of all those who wished it bad.”
