Hujjat al-Islam Mohsin Qara’ati, spoke to officials from the satellite channel Amin, regarding the importance and necessity of inviting people to understand the significance of prayers, and to carrying out the act of praying itself.
Regarding the importance of prayers in one’s life, the respected teacher of the Islamic seminary stated: “Prayer is a blessing that has presence in a person’s life from their birth till the time of their death.”
He continued: “When a person comes to this world, the call to prayer and aqamah is recited in their ears; both of which contain the phrase ‘hayya ‘ala salaah’. When a person passes away, funeral prayers are recited upon their body, after which they are buried.”
“In the blessed Quran it has been narrated that God ordered Prophet Ibrahim (a), Shu’ayb (a), Musa (a) and Isa (a) to pray.”
Reminding the gathering of the true position of prayers in relation to our other deeds, Hujjat al-Islam Qara’ati explained: “Prayer is like a stamp and just how a letter without a stamp holds no value, the actions of a person are also valueless without prayer, and those actions are not accepted.”
“All the actions of us servants are measured up against our prayers. If our prayers are accepted by God, then our actions will be accepted too”.
The renowned commentator of the Quran briefly touched upon the practical steps that could be taken to bring people closer to their prayers. He said: “To invite people to prayers we must soften their hearts, especially the youth, and this will not happen unless their attention is turned towards the numerous blessings of God.”
“God has created everything in this world upon principles and laws and none of the blessings of God lack wisdom.”
He continued: “We must recount the blessings of God favourably and cheerfully to the people so that this proper etiquette leads them towards His blessings and the upholding of prayers.”
Hujjat al-Islam Mohsin Qara’ati finished this segment of his talk with a reminder of our responsibility towards ourselves when we look to propagate to others. He stated: “It is necessary for the invitation of others to prayers that the invitee also refines themselves so that others may accept him as an invitee and so that his words have effect.”
He concluded: “Teaching others how to pray has a huge amount of importance and holds a vast reward for the one who teaches it.”
