Indonesia’s representative has won the top prize in the recitation category of Turkey’s 7th international Quran competition.
According to Ali Abdul Sattar al-Khafaji, an Iraqi Quran expert who is in Istanbul for the contest, Qaris from Turkey, Libya and Iraq came second to fourth, respectively.
He said the fifth rank in this category went to Iran’s representative Mojtaba Mohammadbeigi.
He did not know the winners in the memorization category of the contest.
The 7th edition of Turkey’s international Quran competition was held in Istanbul last week.
As many as 128 Quran activists from 68 countries took part in the international event.
The awarding ceremony, which will be attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President of Religious Affairs Department (Diyanet) Ali Erbas, is slated for May 27.
