**Mr. Khamenei: The American Enemy Seeks to Ignite Wars, Bearing Heavier Costs and Further Disgrace**

**July 18, 2026**

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Khamenei, praised the popular epic that accompanied the funeral procession of Iran’s martyr, Grand Ayatollah Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei (may his soul rest in peace). He stated that the millions who took to the streets in Tehran, Qom, Mashhad, and other cities and villages embodied a new level of loyalty, insight, and adherence to the Iranian Islamic identity, and demonstrated the depth of love for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

In a statement, Mr. Khamenei emphasized that this massive popular presence has garnered the admiration of the Iranian people’s friends and free people across the world, while casting its enemies into a state of bewilderment and astonishment. He stressed that the United States’ repeated breach of its pledges has once again proven the lack of credibility of American signatures and the impossibility of trusting them, asserting that Washington is once again revealing an approach based on arrogance and monopolization.

He pointed out that “the American enemy is now seeking to ignite wars, bearing heavier costs and further disgrace,” adding, “While the American enemy strives for this, let it know that the dear Iranian people and the Resistance Front hold unforgettable lessons in store for it.”

He noted that the most principled matter at this stage is to insist on unity of word and the “sacred union” at all levels—among the people, officials, and across various arenas—in order to realize the lofty aspirations of the Islamic Revolution and ensure the pride and independence of dear Iran. He emphasized that the trust of the dear people in the sincere officials of the three branches of government, whose efforts are manifest in pursuing the people’s welfare and happiness, will remain vigilant and active in the field to ensure the protection of the interests of Islamic Iran.

Furthermore, the Leader of the Revolution called upon the Iranian people and officials to uphold unity of word and strengthen internal cohesion. He affirmed that preserving unity and avoiding disputes represent the most important duties in confronting enemies, and that safeguarding Iran’s pride and independence requires continued vigilance and steadfastness.

**In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful,**

**O Great and Wonder-Working People of Iran!**

Peace, greetings, and gratitude to you; for you have proven, through your unique and historic epic during the unprecedented uprising to bid farewell to the martyred Sayyid of Iran, a new level of manifestations of the divine mission and the firm will of the Islamic-Iranian identity—in gratitude, loyalty, insight, and the expression of profound love for the leader of the Islamic Ummah and the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution. The fervor of the tormented hearts, the tearful eyes, and the unshakable resolve of the crowds—which reached tens of millions and stretched for tens of kilometers in Tehran, Qom, Mashhad, and all other cities and villages—have garnered the admiration of the friends of the Iranian people and free people across the world, while casting the arrogant enemies of the Iranian people into bewilderment, astonishment, anger, and panic.

Coinciding with this epic, the repeated breach of pledges by the “Great Satan” regarding the memorandum of understanding signed between the Presidents of Iran and America has once again proven this truth to everyone: the worthlessness of the American President’s signature and its lack of credibility, and that arrogance, monopolization, and brutality are inseparable parts of the American path and methodology. Today, the “Great Satan” has once again unveiled its true face without a mask, making this dark experience of criminality and oath-breaking another damning document proving America’s deceit, its deviation from logic, the impossibility of trusting it, and its malice. Now, as the American enemy seeks to ignite the fuse of war, bearing heavy costs and further disgrace, let it know that the dear Iranian people and the Resistance Front hold unforgettable lessons in store for it—and the courage of the Mujahideen of Islam and the zeal of the brave sons of the southern region in these days have already demonstrated examples of this.

I must say to you, O loyal and lofty people of Iran, that one of the most principled matters at this stage is to insist on “unity of word” and the “sacred union” at all levels—among the people, officials, and in all various arenas—in order to realize the lofty aspirations of the Islamic Revolution and ensure the pride and independence of dear Iran, especially in the face of the criminal and deceitful American enemy. As has been repeatedly emphasized and warned against in the past, preserving unity and avoiding division, conflict, political disputes, and the magnification of social differences is a duty upon everyone. Naturally, the role of the officials and cadres—who are sincere and dedicated to the love of the Revolution, the Imam, and the martyred Leader—in strengthening the country’s cohesion and unity is the most important and sensitive.

On this basis, the dear people, by continuing to trust in the sincere officials in the three branches of government—whose efforts for the welfare and happiness of the people are manifest—will remain vigilant and active in the field to ensure the protection of the interests of Islamic Iran. Some individuals may have criticisms regarding the performance of certain officials, out of utmost sincerity and motivated by zeal and concern. In my opinion, while this concern for the system—much like those who hold it—is a valuable asset and desirable in itself, these dear ones, some of whom are among the vanguard of the enlightened, must be careful: first, that this approach does not lead to injustice against an innocent person, for that becomes a source of deprivation from divine blessings and favor. And second, that it does not cause a rift in unity and social cohesion. By observing these aspects, criticisms will become a catalyst for the flourishing and advancement of affairs. The enemy should not receive any sign of weakness from us, including this weakness; whenever we adhere to these considerations fully and precisely, it will have no path before it but defeat.

Once again, I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to every individual of the dear people, who are themselves the mourners for the father of the nation, the martyr, and who—despite the difficulties and certain restrictions and hardships—wrote a historic epic in this great event to bid farewell to the martyred Sayyid of Iran. I also thank the Grand Maraji (sources of emulation), scholars, thinkers, elites, and activists in the cultural, social, and political fields. I also appreciate the measures and efforts undertaken by civil and military institutions, as well as the presence of the officials and representatives of the lofty Resistance Front and representatives of the glorious Islamic movements. We hope that the kindness and special prayers of our Master (may God hasten his noble reappearance) will encompass all those who had a presence, accompaniment, and solidarity, in any form, in this historic epic.
