The sources said that the army soldiers, spearheaded by elements of the 3rd Legion, 5th Legion and Republican Guards, managed to impose full control over al-Rashadiyah region in the early hours of Friday.
This key town is located a few kilometers West of the main government supply line leading to Aleppo city.
At the moment, the army is trying to fortify al-Rashadiyah in order to prevent an Al-Nusra counter-offensive.
Reports indicate that government forces have reached the outskirts of Al-Nusra-controlled Ramlah, an important town en route to Abu al-Dhohour Airbase in Eastern Idlib.
The Al-Nusra’s defensive lines in Southern Aleppo was said to have buckled due to simultaneous offensives by the army men on two flanks in the neighboring Hama province, rendering terrorists unable to defend all areas at once.
Relevant reports said on Wednesday that the army men hit the positions of the Al-Nusra Front in Southeastern Aleppo, pushing the terrorists back from a village and a key height.
The army soldiers stormed Al-Nusra strongholds from several directions and managed to capture the village of Jubb Awaz and Tal (hill) al-Sheikh Mohammad in Southeastern Aleppo.
The Al-Nusra suffered tens of casualties and its military equipment sustained major damage in the attacks.
