Syrian Army Starts Operations in Southeastern Idlib

The Arabic-language service of Sputnik news agency reported on Thursday that the operations started with artillery fire and airstrikes and the Syrian army units could retake control of the town of Lawibedeh in the Northern parts of Abu Dali in Southeastern Idlib.

Meantime, the Syrian and Russian fighter jets launched attacks against the terrorists’ logistic and supply lines, field sources said, adding that the operation was aimed at preventing the terrorists from launching offensives on the freed territories.

People in Idlib have staged several protest rallies against terrorists, specially Tahrir al-Sham al-Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front), in the past few months, calling for the withdrawal of terrorists from the occupied territories.

Earlier this month, a security commander of Tahrir al-Sham in Idlib in Northern Syria threatened to kill anyone in the province who participates in protest rallies against the terrorist group.

Abu al-Yaman al-Homsi was quoted by the Arabic-language Orient news website as saying that the protestors should respect Tahrir al-Sham’s leader Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, calling them as dogs of Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian president.

“I swear to God that shedding the blood of anyone who protests against Tahrir al-Sham is halal (religiously allowed) and I will take responsibility for that,” he added.

Al-Homsi also threatened the media activists with death, noting that Tahrir al-Sham has no problem with the death or immigration of all Syrian people, except for the members of Tahrir al-Sham, from Syria.
