The custodian of the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah said, “The officials must know that the solution to the organization of the economic and welfare situation of the people is to pay heed to the Supreme Leader’s words of guidance. In economic war, we must turn the enemies’ threats into opportunities by strengthening the national currency, boycotting US dollar transactions, strengthening bilateral cooperation with Islamic countries, fostering a knowledge-based economy and focusing on the innovations and initiatives of the youth.”
He emphasized, “One of the enemies’ cultural attacks that endanger the safety of society is the issue of poor hijab. This unethical phenomenon has its own corruption within it, including its effect on weakening family foundations and increasing the rate of divorce. Lev Tolstoy, the nineteenth century Russian philosopher and thinker, said that the cause of the rise in divorce in Europe, which has disturbed public opinion, is due to the lack of veiling and the fact that men are more reluctant to socialize with women than their wives. Also, women who dress inappropriately are often harassed by lustful men.”
Ayatollah Sa’idi said that the women of society must preserve their personality and dignity and said, “By observing the hijab, women protect their families from harm and take actions in a manner which obtains divine consent in order protect themselves and the youth.”
The representative of the Supreme Leader in Qom referred to the nomination of candidates for the Islamic Consultative Assembly (parliament) and stated, “The representatives swear to God Almighty by the Holy Quran to protect the sanctity of Islam and guard the foundations and achievements of the Islamic Revolution in the oath which they sign. The representatives swear that they will be faithful, just, committed to the independence and advancement of the country, to provide the interests of the country and serve the people and defend the constitution.”
He added, “Those who are elected to the Islamic Consultative Assembly must leave the security of movements and fulfill their religious and revolutionary duties and be the servants of the nation. Those who, when they enter the Islamic Consultative Assembly, are in other worlds and engage in conflicts, don’t represent the people.”
Ayatollah Sa’idi emphasized, “The officials must solve the problems facing the country in a far-reaching manner because if they had been thinking about these problems in the past, today we would not have had these problems. Today, we must not just think about solving the problems in a fragmented manner but rather we must take far-reaching action so that the dear people are saved from the problems.”
