The chairman and members of the Assembly of Experts met with Ayatollah Khamenei this morning, Thursday, March 9, 2017.
At this meeting, the Leader of the Revolution termed the assembly as very crucial and influential towards current and future situations of the country. He stressed on the necessity of having a sense of responsibility; namely, among officials towards the people, particularly on issues surrounding their living conditions. The Leader of the revolution said, “We should speed up and improve the prideful movement, from over the past four decades, by making non-stop efforts towards reaching the outcomes of the Economy of Resistance and measuring its impact on the lives of the people.”
His Eminence described the officials’ sense of responsibility as an ‘urgent, essential, and obligatory issue’. He added, “We are without a doubt responsible for cultural and social problems of the people; even if one young and faithful individual goes astray—God forbid—as a result of our actions, we will be held accountable for that.”
Ayatollah Khamenei described, as the foundations of the Islamic system: the realization of Islamic laws, even if gradually; firmly upholding the process of executing the Islamic laws; and fighting against arrogant regimes that should not be trusted. He asserted: “Fighting against arrogant regimes, resisting the international despotism as well as the faithless front–seeking domination over the people of faith–are among the certain and irrevocable perquisites of the Islamic system. Fighting does not simply equate to a military encounter; it includes various cultural, intellectual, political, and security related aspects.”
Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the principles of relying on the people and justice while resisting oppression and corruption. Furthermore, he underlined the need for national self-reliance and self-respect by stating, “Not giving in to humiliation, before a foreign culture, is another fundamental of the establishment. We should not feel weak and inferior in terms of culture; we should always feel culturally developed.
The Leader of the Revolution pointed to the significance of Economy of Resistance by saying, “If all the necessary measures, regarding the Economy of Resistance, had been taken, we would have felt a tangible difference in the economic situation of the country and the livelihood of the people.”
Ayatollah Khamenei further held: “I have also told the respected President that it is fine to report on the major indexes; of course, if the statistics are not distorted. However, these things won’t affect people’s livelihood and living conditions in the short term or average term.
The Leader of the Revolution stressed that there are ways to make tangible impacts on the livelihood of the people. “We receive the people’s complaints and expert remarks on issues like production, employment, eradicating recession (in a real sense), smuggling and export, and import actions; all concerns that should be considered, in such a way that people can thoroughly feel a difference in their lives. This is not the case today.”
Ayatollah Khamenei considered the severe economic pressure and the massive but silent cultural invasion as the main pivots of the enemies’ plots and actions. He said, “Their main goal is to cause people to lose their hope in the Islamic establishment, pulling from officials this fundamental source of support in resisting the enemies.”
His Eminence scorned the radical criticisms US politicians made on the Iranian elections, adding: “US politicians, who closely cooperate with the most wicked and most inhumane regimes in our region, and made a huge spectacle of their recent presidential election, dare attack and criticize the Iranian nation’s election?”
The Leader of the Revolution went on to say: “Despite the continuous attacks by all the superpowers and Zionist media empires, the Iranian nation has progressed in every realm after the revolution. Even in the realm of culture, on which I have concerns and I am sensitive about, we have moved ahead. Our youth today have a much deeper understanding, compared to the first years after the revolution; and they are ready to make sacrifices in various fields.”
Finally the Leader of the Revolution termed Iran’s deep and vast strategic powers around the world, particularly in the West Asian region, as the most significant achievement in the past four decades and said: “Iran’s increasing influence and the nation’s support for the Islamic Republic are our strong foothold; this reality has outraged the U.S., making their analysts look for a way to encounter Iran’s increasing influence.
