The revered teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom stated that Godwaryness and beneficence are related to personal and social issues and added, “We have a duty to always take steps toward Godwaryness in the individual and social realms of our lives.”
Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani said, “In a narration, Imam Ali al-Ridha considered Godwaryness as acting in regard to obligatory and forbidden matters. Imam Ali introduced Godwaryness as having four basic principles – fear of God, acting in regard to the Holy Quran, contentment and preparation for the Day of Resurrection.”
His Eminence emphasized the necessity for religious scholars to be Godwary and stated, “A scholar who doesn’t fear God is out of the circle of knowledge. A scholar who doesn’t act on his knowledge will not achieve fruition.”
He pointed out that mankind must always strive for the development of his Hereafter in this world, adding, “If the Holy Quran isn’t the axis of one’s affairs and we don’t act on it, surely we will be among the people of hell. We have to believe that we will leave this world and that we don’t have a permanent place in this world.”
Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani emphasized the necessity for all members of society to protect the Islamic Revolution against harm and conspiracies and said, “We must strive so that the Islamic Revolution, which is indebted to the blood of martyrs, isn’t harmed. Today, we must strive to fulfill our revolutionary mission in order to transfer this revolution to the future generations.”
