**Wisdoms and Admonitions (7)**
### The Best of God’s Creation
It is narrated that the children of Adam once gathered in a house and began arguing. One of them said: “The best of God’s creation is our father Adam.” Another said: “The nearest angels.” Another said: “The bearers of the Throne.”
While they were debating, **Hibat Allah (Seth)** entered. Some of them said: “Someone has come who will settle the matter for you.” He greeted them and sat down, then asked: “What were you discussing?” They replied: “We were discussing who is the best of God’s creation.”
He said: “Wait for me a little while until I return.”
He then went to his father Adam and said: “Father, I entered upon my brothers and they were disputing about who is the best of God’s creation. They asked me, but I had no answer, so I told them to wait until I returned.”
Adam (peace be upon him) said:
“My son, I once stood before God, the Exalted, and I saw written upon the face of the Throne:
‘In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
Muhammad and the family of Muhammad are the best of those whom God created.’”
Meaning: **Muhammad and the family of Muhammad are the best of God’s creation.**

### The Worst of God’s Creation
It is narrated from the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he said:
“The worst of God’s creation are five:
– Iblis (Satan),
– the son of Adam who killed his brother,
– Pharaoh, the possessor of stakes,
– a man from the Children of Israel who led his people away from their religion,
– and a man from this nation who pledges allegiance to disbelief at the gate of Ludd.”

### All Knowledge in Four Sentences
God revealed to Adam (peace be upon him):
“I have gathered all knowledge for you in four statements:
– One for Me,
– One for you,
– One between Me and you,
– And one between you and the people.
The one for Me: worship Me and do not associate anything with Me.
The one for you: I will reward you for your deeds when you are most in need of them.
The one between Me and you: it is upon you to supplicate, and upon Me to answer.
The one between you and the people: love for others what you love for yourself.”

### The Virtue of Bowing (Rukūʿ) to God
Imam al‑Sadiq (peace be upon him) said:
When God granted Iblis certain powers, Adam said:
“My Lord, You have given Iblis authority over my children, allowing him to flow through them like blood in the veins. What protection is there for me and my children?”
God said:
– “For you and your children, a sin counts as one, but a good deed counts as ten.”
Adam said: “My Lord, increase it.”
God said: “Repentance remains open until the soul reaches the throat.”
Adam said: “My Lord, increase it.”
God said: “I forgive sins and do not mind.”
Adam said: “That is sufficient for me.”
Then it was asked: “What caused Iblis to receive such power?”
The Imam replied: “Because of an act of worship he performed—he prayed **two units of prayer in heaven over four thousand years**.”

### The Virtue of Prostration (Sujūd)
Imam al‑Baqir (peace be upon him) narrated that the Messenger of God said:
When Adam was sent down from Paradise, God commanded him to work the earth with his own hands after the comfort of Paradise. Adam cried and wept over Paradise for **two hundred years**. Then he prostrated before God and did not raise his head from prostration for **three days and nights**.

### The Five Lights
Imam Husayn (peace be upon him) said:
When God created Adam and taught him the names of all things, He placed within Adam the forms of **five luminous beings**:
– Muhammad
– Ali
– Fatimah
– Hasan
– Husayn
Their lights shone throughout the heavens, the veils, the gardens, the Throne, and the Kursi.
God commanded the angels to prostrate to Adam in honor of him because he carried these luminous forms. The angels all prostrated except **Iblis**, who refused to humble himself before the greatness of God and the lights of the Ahl al‑Bayt. Because of his arrogance, he became one of the disbelievers.

### The Kaaba and Forgiveness
Imam al‑Baqir (peace be upon him) narrated:
When Adam built the Kaaba and circumambulated it, he said:
“O Lord, every worker receives a reward. I have done this deed—so grant me something.”
God said: “Ask, O Adam.”
Adam said: “O Lord, forgive my sin.”
God replied: “Your sin has been forgiven.”
Adam then said: “And for my descendants after me?”
God said: “Whoever from your descendants comes here acknowledging his sin as you did, I will forgive him.”
Meaning: whoever performs **Hajj or Umrah** and sincerely repents will be forgiven and purified from sins like the day his mother gave birth to him.

### The Benefit of Speaking Little
It is narrated that when Adam’s children and grandchildren increased, they would speak a lot in his presence while he remained silent.
They asked: “Father, why do you not speak?”
Adam replied:
“My children, when God expelled me from His presence, He instructed me: **‘Speak little so that you may return to My presence.’**”
Meaning: **speaking little brings one closer to God**, while excessive useless talk distances a person from Him.

### A Supplication of Adam
It is reported that when Adam felt sadness he would say:
“There is no power and no strength except with God.”
Adam once said to his Lord after raising his head from prostration:
“My Lord, did You not create me?”
God said: “Yes.”
“Did You not breathe into me from Your spirit?”
“Yes.”
“Did You not place me in Your Paradise?”
“Yes.”
“Did Your mercy not precede Your wrath?”
“Yes.”
Then Adam said:
“There is no god but You. Glory be to You. I have wronged myself, so forgive me. Indeed You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.”
God accepted his repentance and showed him mercy.

### One Sin for One, One Good Deed for Ten
When Adam descended to earth he said:
“My Lord, this enemy (Satan) whom You made hostile to me—I could not overcome him even in Paradise. If You do not help me, I cannot overcome him.”
God replied:
– “A sin will be counted as one, but a good deed as ten—up to seven hundred times.”
– “Every child you have will have an angel or two protecting him.”
– “Repentance remains open as long as the soul remains in the body.”
– “I forgive sins without limit.”
Adam said: “That is sufficient for me.”
Meanwhile Iblis said:
“My Lord, if You do not give me advantages over Adam, I cannot overcome him.”
God said:
– “For every child of Adam, two devils will be born for you.”
– “You will flow in them like blood in the veins.”
– “You and your descendants may dwell in their hearts.”
– “You may promise and deceive them.”
But God warns: **Satan’s promises are nothing but deception.**

### The First to Plow and Cultivate the Earth
Imam al‑Sadiq (peace be upon him) said:
When Adam came down to earth he needed food and drink. He complained to the angel Gabriel.
Gabriel told him:
“O Adam, become a farmer.”
Adam asked him to teach him a supplication, so Gabriel said:
“Say:
O God, suffice me from the burdens of this world and every terror before Paradise.”
