O my sister…
What is raised under the banner of “women’s rights,” such as the matters mentioned above and others, should not cause you to surrender in imitation of others—even at the expense of religion.
Rather, these matters should be presented before the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Whatever they accept, we accept with pride; whatever they reject, we reject with dignity.
We accept no religion other than the religion of Allah.
O noble sister…
If deviations, injustice, or corruption occur in society, we must all unite to reform, deter, and resist them.
This is our duty. Islam has defended the human being, honored him, elevated him, and entrusted him with responsibility—without dividing humanity into a “camp” of women and a “camp” of men.
Oppression against society is oppression against all. Wrongdoing is not confined to one group against another. What women suffer in our society is not separate from what men suffer.
Both share in the usurped and diminished rights resulting from the direct and indirect domination of enemies over our affairs and authorities.
Thus, all people of truth—men and women—must refute all people of falsehood—men and women.
Allah has made the people of truth adversaries to the people of falsehood; He did not make women enemies of men.
If misconduct or abuse occurs, it stems from weakness of faith and commitment. Its solution lies in calling people back to Islam and encouraging them toward it.
Islam has never treated women as a separate “issue” nor adopted the divisive method followed in Western thought. Islam deals with women as human beings—morally responsible and accountable—without distinction between them and men in obligations and duties.
Women’s rights in Islam are part of the rights of all creation—women, men, children, boys, and girls alike.
O my sister…
Enough debate over issues that hide behind the slogan of “women’s rights.” Enough—not only out of concern for the honored Muslim woman whom Allah has protected, but also out of fairness to Islam, which has been subjected to much slander and injustice—often indirectly, when direct attacks are not possible.
How often have we heard that a “liberated” woman is one who does not marry early, does not bear many children, cannot be “controlled” by her husband, leaves her home whenever she wishes, and frees herself from her husband’s authority—since she is not a servant in the house!
By this, they intend to attack Islam… along with accusations and illusions from which it is as innocent as the wolf was of the blood of Jacob’s son.
O my sister…
There is something that puzzles me, and I have yet to find an answer:
If those who demand “women’s rights” are sincere, why do they not at least launch a media campaign against beauty pageants in all their forms and the degradation they entail?
Why do they not confront the cheap physical exploitation of women in the media, indecent imagery, immoral “artistic” gatherings, widespread corruption, growing shamelessness, and escalating humiliation?
If these are not part of “women’s rights,” then why the silence?
Indeed, there are signs that some of you support them—sometimes participate in them—sometimes even initiate them!
The media and reality testify to this.
And if these matters are part of “women’s rights,” then tell us so plainly.
Then every matter will have its proper discussion.
