News – Yemen: The Yemeni Armed Forces announced they had shot down a Saudi reconnaissance drone over Yemen’s central province of Al Bayda during a hostile mission.
Military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree said the drone, identified as a Wing Loong II, was brought down in the early hours of Tuesday using an appropriate weapon while operating in the province’s airspace.
Saree reaffirmed that the Yemeni Armed Forces remain fully prepared to confront any violation of Yemen’s airspace and sovereignty, stressing they will not remain idle in the face of any aggression.
The incident came after the Saudi-led coalition carried out airstrikes on Sana’a International Airport, causing extensive damage and further disrupting civilian air traffic.
In response, the Yemeni Armed Forces targeted Abha International Airport with ballistic missiles and drones, declaring a reciprocal “airport-for-airport” deterrence equation and warning that Saudi airports would remain vulnerable as long as attacks on Yemen and the blockade on Sana’a International Airport continue.
