Trump declares national emergency over alleged Cuba threat

US President Donald Trump has declared a national emergency, citing an alleged extraordinary threat to US national security originating from Cuba, according to an executive order published by the White House.

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order declaring a national emergency, citing what he described as an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to US national security allegedly originating from Cuba.

According to a recent Wall Street Journal report, the US, emboldened by itss military operation in Venezuela, is seeking to engineer regime change in Cuba by the end of 2026, targeting insiders within the Cuban government who may be willing to collaborate.

Trump signs executive order on Cuba

The executive order, released Thursday by the White House, outlines the administration’s justification for the declaration, claiming that the threat stems largely from foreign sources outside the United States.

“NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, find that the situation with respect to Cuba constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat, which has its source in whole or substantial part outside the United States, to the national security and foreign policy of the United States and hereby declare a national emergency with respect to that threat,” the order states.
