The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a strong statement on Thursday condemning the European Union’s targeting of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), slamming it as irrational, irresponsible, and driven by hostility.
The statement affirmed that the EU’s decision was carried out in blind obedience to the hegemonic and inhumane policies of the United States and the Israeli entity, revealing the extent of hostility harbored by the bloc’s leaders toward the Iranian people, armed forces, and the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic.
EU decision lacks legal grounds
According to the statement, the baseless designation, lacking any rational or legal foundation, was made under the pressure of the “delusional and unwise” US President, and at the direction of the terrorist, child-killing Israeli entity.
The move constitutes a blatant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and the fundamental principle of respect for national sovereignty, the statement added.
