On the authority of Imam Ali: “The believer’s wealth is in God Almighty.”

**Tawakkul as Support for the Soul**

Reliance on God (*tawakkul*) gives strength to the self, provides powerful support to the soul, and brings reform to the human heart and life.

Allamah al‑Tabataba’i (may God sanctify his soul) says in this regard:

“The fulfillment of will and the attainment of one’s objective in the realm of material life require both natural causes and spiritual causes. When a person intends to undertake an important matter and prepares the necessary natural means, nothing stands between him and what he seeks except disturbances in the spiritual and psychological causes—such as weakness of will, fear, grief, recklessness, greed, foolishness, سوء الظن (suspicion), pessimism, and other such factors. These are important and widespread matters.

But if he relies on God, the Exalted—thus connecting himself to a cause that can never be overcome, a cause that is above all other causes—his will becomes strengthened with a power that cannot be defeated by any opposing psychological or spiritual factors. In this way, attainment and happiness are achieved.”⁸
